RIDDICK BOWE VS MIKE TYSON (YEAR?)

Post by m1kee50 »

My old man reckons Bowe would have handled Tyson. I dont know so im asking you lot.

Also, what would have been the best year for the fight, assuming the normal events (tyson in prison) did not occur?

I,m not sure i think so unles tyson was in decline and Bowe was in his prime. Bith fighters in their prime i would have to say tyson would have beaten bowe. I dont think bowe had a heart really, thats why he would never face Lennox.

For me i would have to say Tyson by KO

I agree, I don't think Bowe could've beaten Tyson at any time really, Tyson's speed, power, and aggression were all wrong for Bowe, just look at how much trouble Evander's pressurizing gave him, if he would've left those same openings for Tyson to land he would've landed them very flush and taken him outta there, he definitely would've given Iron Mike a good bit of hell though.

Yes, Holyfield really sucks compared to Tyson... Just look at how Tyson kicked the shit out of Holyfield.

I don't think Bowe was ever scared to fight Lennox - Their primes were simply at different times...and money-wise there wasn't much in it for Bowe to face him....

With that said....I think Bowe Vs Tyson...both in their primes would have been a hell of a fight....Bowe was a good inside figther.....but he left his chin out there too much....

I think Tyson's power shots stop him....somewhere between 6-9th rounds..

sorry but no one is gonna say that there was more money in bowe fighting jesse fergusson or michael dokes then a young olympian who had a win over bowe.
bowe would of made 3 times as much as both fights combined to fight lewis.bowe was just scared.

If Holyfield gave Bowe real trouble why was he 2-1 with him? (and the 1 was the interrupted fight as i recall).

The simulator called it a good 10 rounder.
Outcome unclear.

Comparisons don't always hold water. Tyson's manners of fighting wouldn't have suited Bowe. Early TKO for me.

I think this is a very hard one for Tyson.

Bowe had a great jab (when he used it). He was a better inside fighter than Tyson (who was often lazy inside even in his good years). Bowe was also very durable.

Tyson could not fight when pushed back and Bowe had the size and punch to do just that.

Tyson looked to slip the jab and counter but if Bowe is on form he's going to find that hard. When he does get into his range he's going to find a big man who can put it all together inside.

I'd give the edge to Bowe.

Tyson was in prison during Bowe's peak. Hypothetically, if theyd both fought in 93, Bowe was at his peak and Tyson had declined, maybe Bowe by late stoppage a la Buster Douglas.

I dunno I always had the feeling that Bowe would win this one. Bowe had a good jab and uppercut, two punches Tyson was always open for but, Bowe would be definately open for Tyson's shots. Plus Tyson had a little more trouble w/guys who were taller and had a good jab. With a few back and forth knockdowns, I think Bowe may take it. Usually guys with equal talent, the bigger one usually wins. Bowe really had two glaring weaknesses one was defense and the other one was discipline off the ring, so going with Tyson is not too illogical at all. But my pick is Bowe KO10.
