Sky Showing Abraham v Demers on delay

With Hatton no longer on Sky, and with the domestic scene flagging among boring fighters and retreads (and retreads of retreads...) I was hoping that we'd get a broader international scope.

Have my prayers been answered? With it being a time of intriguing middles, we will get the May 26 Abraham v Demers on week delay - June 1st. Not bad, because boxing is big in Germany and the undercard is an awesome one...between cruisers Vadim Tokarev v Marco Huck.

Shame there's no plans for the Cotto-Judah, or the Showtime card featuring Dawson and Tarver in seperate fights...hopefully with ITV and Sky not being shackled by Warren and Hatton, and with other broadcasters in the mix (Setanta and Beeb), we may see healthy comp for World fights. Hopefully.

There some good future fights on sky potentially Haye world title fight, Witter v Harris, Froch next fight. Where will Warren stable go has he signed new deal with itv?

don't think ITV like what they are paying for. Either that or the viewing figures aren't quite good enough. Calzaghe-Manfredo didn't pull in enough TV viewers though Warren reckoned there would have been more had Terry O'Connor not jumped in so fast (had Warren made acceptable matchups there may have been NO problem...)...It seems Warren may be spinning the ITV situation that their bid isn't big enough.

Sky are unlikely because whatever is happening with Warren/ITv already happened with Warren/Sky.

So it'll be between the Beeb and Setanta. Have Setanta maxed their boxing budget with Hatton? Or will the ambitious Oirishmen dig deeper in their pockets in a bid for British boxing dominion? If Setanta do get Warren's stable, live viewing will be sorely limited I'm guessing...but I hear the Beeb may get delayed rights.

i think Sky would still show his fights but not with an exclusive contract, I dont see Setanta as a good move. They only got the 2 live premier football packages( not the best packages either) also I think they will be doing pay per view matches with one of those. Who wants to pay another £12 pr month for sports.

definitely. i just hope all the ppl throwing around the money realize what exclusive contracts do to redcue the quality level. giving ppl cart blanche is shite because they'll just take liberties until the contract expires. then the next idiots throw their money away. and the next ones.

-Sky saw the error in letting Warren have free reign. They were paying for shit showcases like Macca v Lamontagne.
-ITV were foolish and ended up not wanting to renew with Warren, who stooped even lower with Macca-Gunn Bobby Gunn.

-so now Setanta are seemingly giving the cynical Hattons free reign. let's hope another Maussa doesn't come along to win an alphabelt because they will be 1st in line.
-are Setanta begging for trouble, in showing interest in Warren too? Let's hope they have some watertight contracts in which top class matchups are guaranteed.

not having as pop at Warren and the Hattons. Anyone will try and get the most money for less difficulty for their fighter. Bob Arum was going to "improve boxing" on that Vs channel, yet instead of matching his boys competitively and compellingly he did showcases for his 'stars.'

It's plainly obvious how boxing is to thrive. Via the great fights no rights policy held by Showtime. Someone tell the thickos who're ready to throw their money down to toilet.

As for that German bill, it's a load of shit. Abraham's is fighting someone who looks to be in over his head which is not surprising considering German fighters are just as protected as British ones. The only fighter I want to see on the card is Povetkin.

I'd like to see more big bills from America, that's still where all the action is.

Would have to disagree with that, after all Abraham is coming back from a horrific injury, Huck-Tokarev will be good and a chance to see Povetkin fighting again. Sounds solid enough to me. USA Boxing isn't the b all and end all, Germany usually puts on solid enough shows.
