Next for Oakey?
Next for Oakey?
So what's next for Oakey after his performance against Spartacus?
Is it still in the plans for him to fight Brian Magee? Any chance he tries to avenge either of his losses (Haymer or Barney)?

Magee would be the best choice, he's rated and would be a better earner for Oakey.
Haymer has lost his last 2, so would need to get a couple of wins before the board would accept him as a challenger.
And Barney is completly the wrong type of boxer for Oakey, his movement and jab would always cause serious problems for Tony. I'd think Barney would need to get himself into a mandatory position before he'd be able to get Oakey back in the ring.

Magee is the mandatory after beating Andrew Lowe in Dagenham (crap fight btw due to styles more than anything). After that? assuming a win, maybe a C'Wealth shot at Dean Francis? who knows? LH scene is a bit thin at brit level bu ok at C'wealth, so maybe he will need to fight another C'wealth challenger first....
So he could fight O McKenzie? Ayitey Powers? Glenn Catley?

Dean Francis, from what i read in the Bristol Evening Post, wants to fight Brian Magee in a unification fight in September/October time. That's if Magee beats Oakey, which i fancy him to do.
Francis, of course, never won the British title outright and is dying to do so. He also wants to fight Antonio Tarver - hence why he is fighting for the IBO international title next Saturday.

Tarver beats Francis IMO, but if he does not, I think it does not 'enable' Francis to beat any of the other title holders. Woods is the weakest IMO and he beats him IMO. Tarver is diminished to the point where he is beatable by Francis, its a negative assesment of Tarver rather than A positive of Francis

They have the same record, Francis and Magee... 27-3-0Podmore_Birmingham wrote:Ah, my mistake.Coco wrote:I think he means will Francis only fight Magee or will he fight the winner of Magee v Oakey
I think Francis would fight either, its just he thinks Magee will be the one to prevail against Oakey.
