Well to be honest if Burgin has been driven out of his mind by what has happened to him I wouldnt be surprised. Hamed should still be in jail for what he did imo and the fact that the guy is still fighting for compensation is outrageous. My dad was in a road accident and recived injuries to just his leg but I experienced for myself all the trauma these situations can cause and it makes me actually shudder to think of what Burgin has been through and will continue to go through, ...Hamed has crippled the guy and got off virtually scott free.
my dad was also in an accident.

took 6 yrs to be compensated.

they hope ya f*cking die these insurance companies.

He could have been an all time great.

He would have beaten MAB in 1997, but I think it was alround that time he became too caught up in his own hype and deterioted(sp)

After that MAB was twice soundly beaten by Junior Jones, but instead of sulking and retiring he re invented himself into the box fighter that has secured his legacy.

It was such tactics that exposed Hamed in their bout.

Hamed on the other hand got lazy and just relied on his tremendous punch power would would account for most fighters but not the elite.
I think that from the start Hamed always had a bit of bully in him, I saw this in the Belacastro fight and when he met fighters that he couldnt dominate he always struggled... I dont think he ever would have got past fighters like Barrera and Morales... remember how he struggled with Kelley and Johnson for instance.
i always thought he had big weaknesses in his style.

even back when i was more a casual fan.

i was a casual boxing fan around the time he fought tom johnson. i watched the ppv round a mate's house, and i was giving it all the lip about how this yank was gonna expose hamed's flaws.

even though he got away with it that night, i always thought one of the top boys like a barrera would sort him out good and proper. :box:

A few observations:

It's nothing short of scandalous that compensation takes so long to come through - how much extra, unecessary suffering is this causing, victims not getting the compensation when it's arguably most useful.

Footballer Lee Hughes was involved in a broadly similar case wasn't he, the critical, and tragic, difference being the vicitim died. I think he got 6 years though. Given the severity of Burgin's injuries Naz's sentence seems a bit unjust...

...which makes me wonder, Burgin pulling out in front of his wife's car. Dangerous driving of course, but he was't trying anything sillier if you see what I mean?

Finally, I thought was a sensational fighter...really enjoyed watching his fights, but he did seem to lose the plot, beleive his own hype and disappear up his own arse. Naz's behaviour in that documentary before the MAB fight was shocking. Real spoilt brat stuff. Such a shame really...I thought he could have won that fight had he prepared properly.

Tom Johnson and Kevin Kelley were on the same level as Junior Jones, Hamed could have beaten the MAB that JJ did.

The point is MAB went back to the drawing board, regrouped and came back a better fighter.

Hamed on the other hand, probably because of his personality defects did not have it in him to do the same, in fact he had been on the slide for a little while and had showed little improvement in his professional career.

I entirely agree with the other posters criticisms of Hamed, but they are personality defects not talent defects, he had the talent to be an all time great.

Hamed was an irresponsible twat driving the way he did BUT this fella is actually being worse in targeting Hameds wife and kid in a pre-meditated manner. The wife and kid aren't responsible for Hameds actions for 1 thing.

2 wrongs dont make a right, what if Hameds wife and kid were killed because of this dangerous driving?

Its funny how people want to hang Hamed for been irresponsible while not meaning to hurt anyone. When Scott Harrison purposely beats lumps out of random people and risking killing them but hes a poor sick man who can't help himself. Its also funny how the same people lambasting Hamed trumpet Delahoya who has been accused of rape.

Its also funny how Tyson/Hamed are called bullys who lose when someone stands up to them. I'm not sure how been outboxed when your not at your best after beating around 10 world champs makes you a bully that only picked on weaker smaller guys. But Tyszu/Nigel Benn are not seen in the same light. Aren't they good enough to be classed as bullys?

COME ON AS SAID IT ISNT THE ACT OF IRRESPONSIBLE DRIVING THATS THE ISSUE PHENOM.

its the cowardly act of running away form the scene thats abhorrent.

Equally so how do you know the guy deliberately targetted them could have been a coincidence?

Being accused of rape and being convicted are two totally different things.

Buulies tend to quit when they get stood up to, thats what Hamed did. Benn wasnt a bully as such as he would always come back fro more, Hamed spat his dummy out and threw in the towel.

Er no - but I would suggest ignorance is YOUR strong point you impolite bastard.

I asked the question in good faith. Unless you work in the finance industry or want to be a copper, employers very, very rarely check.

Unless you have a spent a 10 year stretch and have to account for it in your CV...

And you obviously have no qualms about lying to people and thinking everything you say is correct.

Oh come on, thats the cop out line of all Tyson and Hamed die hards 'they lost because they werent at their best!' ...the truth is they lost because they had their flaws exposed and this is underlined by the fact that neither came back to beat the people that beat them... Benn came back from defeats so did Tyzsu... they both also came from behind in fights to win, something that neither Hamed (save for the Kelley bout when he was floored) nor Tyson ever did... both Hamed and Tyson are bullies because behind the menace/cockyness they both folded when faced by fighters that stood up to them and beat them whereas fighters like Benn and Tszyu came back from defeats... I've never seen Benn or Kostya bite someones ear off or try and break their arm in a clintch... and neither ever tried to humiliatye an opponent that they were well beating like Hamed used to do... thats because Benn and Kostya werent bullies but Tyson and Hamed were... I've heard stories of Hamed beating the crap out of sparring partners when he was in a bad mood... despite his lack of height the guy is a bully...

I fail to see why anyone would or should sympathise with Hamed over this, ...he was driving like a prat and caused the accident in the first place... then he fled the scene, leaving the guy for dead... then he gets out of prison after just 4 months and has yet to pay any conpensation!!!... I'm sorry but I dont agree that just because he 'did his time' everything should now be hunkydory for him... the other guys life will never be the same again why should Hameds?.... perhaps if he had stayed at the scene and tried to help, ...perhaps if he had quickly paid out some decent conpensation to the guy afterwards, ...but he didnt and he hasnt and so he deserves everything he gets imo...

I 'm not saying that the bloke should have targeted Hameds wife or kids, if he did do that, we dont really know the full story... I'm sure if he did do that then the matter will go further and the guy could end up going to jail for longer than Hamed did... again though I have to say that if the guy is bitter and has lost his marbles a bit I can totally understand what he's going through and why he might have did what he's being accused of...
