Promoter allegedly says Joe Calzaghe will go to Denmark and fight Mikkel Kessler.

Earlier this week, Warren agreed to an offer made by Kessler's promoter, Mogens Palle, but has so far heard nothing back from the Dane.

"It's not a done deal until it's signed but we've accepted," Warren told BBC Five Live. "It's now up to Palle to send a contract."

Long term WBO super-middleweight king Calzaghe has been linked to a fight with his WBC/WBA counterpart following victory over Peter Manfredo Jr in April.

Both fighters - neither of whom have tasted defeat before - were keen to secure home advantage, but Calzaghe is so confident of victory, he is prepared to sacrifice a partisan crowd.

"Joe doesn't mind fighting in Denmark," said Warren. "He feels he will beat Kessler anywhere and I believe that's the case as well.

"It's a great fight. It's the two best super middleweights in the world. It's probably one of the most competitive fights at the moment in boxing.

"I just hope that Palle backs up his offer. We sent him an e-mail on Tuesday along with a fax confirming what the terms were and we've not heard from him since.

"I'm hoping it's not all nonsense. He's been talking a lot about fighting Joe with Kessler and we've called his bluff. I don't believe he ever thought that Joe would go to Denmark."

There is a link on the BBC sports page which says 'Calzaghe to fight Kessler' but it doesn't work!

Hang on Kessler is supposed to be fighting Mundine later in the year - Calzaghe in September, then Mundine Nov/Dec seems a bit unlikely to me!! - Kessler will take one of these fights, and my bet is Mundine - Joe will still not have an opponent for September, so our old friend TBA will be drafted in - Why doesnt FW talk to MH and put on the biggest domestic matchup since Eubank/Benn - Why avoid fighting Froch when there isnt a big name available for September for Joe - Its a fight we would all like to see so Calzaghe and FW wouldnt be criticized and it should make a lot of money - Then try again for Kessler early next year.

kessler doesn't have to fight Mundine for 18 months according to WBA unified rules so he doesn't have to fight him yet.

And this says it all in my opinion. I got a feeling Fwank doesnt expect Palle to actually confirm the offer which is why he has said this. If Palle does indeed come back with the offer and double-bluffs I wonder what will happen. Something tells me it involves egg, a face and still no fight.

It seems Bettina injured her wrist doing some paperwork, so she won't be available to fight Joe, either.

And the decider here could be that this is Palle's last chance at a ticket to the big time: his fighter is well placed to get a win that would turn him into an instant superstar, and all the millions that follow.

Here we go again, I find it very strange when TV contracts are up for renewal the promise or hints or whatever of big fights suddenly become apparent, then the fights don't happen.

For Warren not to come out and state unequivocally the fight is definitely on suggests to me there is some serious haggling still to be done, perhaps one promoter trying to gain the morale high ground when everything goes to rat shit. Until the contracts are signed and both promoters state the fight is definitely on, you have to treat these announcements with the contempt they deserve. Its a bit like Calzaghe v Taylor happening look what happened there.

Not by me, I just reckon that Hatton doesn't want any part of Witter.

As for Calzaghe and Kessler, I don't think it's as easy as accepting the offer. I'd like to know what Warren's mentioned 'terms' are, that's the crux.

Presumably the terms would have been those proposed by Palle, which would be standard business practice.
