Michael Gomez back again!
I have got to say one ov my fav fighters is Michael Gomez is all action style and hes shear aggresion in the ring and heart of a lion won alot of fans in the late 90s. Hes fight with Alex Arthur back in 2003 was 5 brutal rounds in 1 of the best british fights i have ever seen well a few weeks bak he made is ring return after 18 months out now personally i would love to see him win titles again but can he do it? what do u all think? and also who would u like to see Gomez fight?

I was always hard to know whether Gomez's poor permormances were down to him being shot or just lack of preparation.
Personally I thought Gomez was shot before the Arthur fight but he proved me wrong.
Hopefully he physically has enough left, is in the gym and mentally focussed.
If that is the case he can hopefully still have a say at domestic level

he looked okay, just okay, against Thorpe but it was his first fight back. Hopefuly be able to have a chat with him on Sunday, find out what his intentions are and try to gauge how things are going. I know VIP are hoping to keep him busy and get him some decent fights down the line.
He's fighting in Wigan on the open air June bill btw.

His fight with Arthur is probably one of my fav fights of all time. Okay, its not a technical masterclass, but it was the whole package that I enjoyed. All the scotish fans singing "who the f*** hell are you" and booing during his ringwalk, yet he just stopped dead in his tracks looked up and down the arena and took it all in.

I think the allocation of tickets has been taken up by the boxers - so you'll need to beg, borrow, or steal one. Sure that was mentioned on a different thread.wiganboxer wrote:Looking forward to see what Sean Crompton can do in the pro game hes had no amateur fights u no hes had a few unlicensed fights but he is very tough so is first few fights he should get by on is toughness its when he steps up in class then we will have to see anyways with him being from wigan hope he does well cant wait for the show thanks for the info wales mate.

I think Steve @ VIP wants to ensure Mikes last hurrah is managed sensibly. I expect him to have another 3 or 4 fights before moving up in class really.Des1 wrote:Has he called out McDonagh yet, id like to see a rematch and anyway whats happend to McDonagh? thought it would be him getting fights and exposer after he beat Gomez
Yes, I can see the sense in thatWales wrote:I think Steve @ VIP wants to ensure Mikes last hurrah is managed sensibly. Mike was at a boxing doo yesterday, says he hopes to fight in June, then all going well again in July and then maybe a title shot of some description in September. He also mentioned he'd like to fight Alex Arthur again. Personally I think he's way off the mark with that one, but it shows he still wants it.
As a side the trailer for the movie about his life was shown, could be a very interesting film. Mike is played by "Lip from shameless" (sorry dont know his real name without looking it up). For anyone who hasnt seen the trailer it's to be posted on Mikes web site soon.... The Film's called "GOMEZ" (up all night thinking of that one
