The registration period has ended and the draw completed. One boxer, Adrian Ghisoiu, did not show even though he was the armed services champ. I believe he is now out of the Olympic Trials as they replaced his part of the quarter-final bracket with other boxers.
There will be a total of 7 bouts tonight in the 141 (4 bouts), 152 (2 bouts), and 201+ (1 bout) weight classes. Tomorrow, there will be 8-10 bouts per weight class divided up into noon and 6 pm sessions, so it will be busy.

Jordan is in Wilder's quarter-bracket. He faces Elvin Sanchez today. Round 2 opponent would be winner of Paul Saxon v. Quantis Graves. Jordan's arm is doing better, but we will have to wait and see how it holds up.

2 - Why do the Armed Forces Champions still get a bye? It seems that the days of the military supplying a good portion of the top fighters has passed, so unless several of their champions win, they should maybe drop this policy.

Currently 8am in da' "dam" and I sees I forgots that the Winner for da' ladies at 165lbs. will be Crews. Upset of da' tourney so far apper to B Mark Davis losing to Pagan. Davis wuz my pick but now he better pack his bags for da' pros dawg, cuz he out of commish. Hence, my udder pick for da' finals may win - Hylon Williams. I guess cuz i ain't no soothsayer.....but I still doin' pretty good wit da' predictions. Tomorrow's bout sheet on the USA Boxing website states Molina verus Dargan. This bout should go to "Kid Dy-no-mite!" but should he trip up against the kid Molina from Cali who won the medalla de plata (silver medal) at the Cadet Worlds last year, then my man Dargan will be packin' his bags to the "carneceria/meat-market" that is da' pros like Davis did last night cuz his dream will be over! "Dy-no-mite!" did a slip last year at da' PAL over in Cali, so he ain't superman but he should win a good one, but if da' boy from Cali - Molina steps it up a notch and wins then it will be da' upset of the tournament. Mark Davis knocked out, wow. That was a really tough draw between him and Shemuel Pagan - but I thought Davis might be poised to make a late bid for the US team. And Sarnoi knocked out too, as 125 continues to be interesting.
And Andres Taylor with a quick exit too, against James Zimmerman.
Today is the biggest day of the tournament, with Trials spots going to fighters at 106, 119, 132, 152, 178, and 201+ in the day and 112, 125, 141, 165, and 201 in the evening session.

Bryan has the goods and will show them here,he peaks at the biggest times and this will be another of those I believe. Cant wait to see him and Dargan go at it. Beating Molina was a bigger win then some realized at the time as I saw in person how well Javier is fighting this year at the Eastern trials
Wohosky is refreshed after moving up in weight from 119,he was drained sitting in saunas all the time. Russell and Marquen are both still at 119 so there arent in Troy's way,his brackets breaks nicely for him as well.
Andrade is a beast without a doubt,very talented kid and has beaten Melson in the past but this is Boyd's last go around and he is more focused then ever.He also has a bit more expierence at pressure events. His bracket is tricky because Mahlon Kerwick awaits before he can even get to Andrade and Mahlon has been around forever it seem (2000 Olympic trials,wow).
A lot of great actions awaits, as noted earlier just a shame no one is televising it. Many bouts will be nail biters and I would guess no one picking will get more then 5-6 weight classes correct the ability is that close.

Mark Davis' loss doesn't surprise me - he was out of boxing for 3-6 months and it's hard to bounce back. It's just too bad he had to hit the qualifiers when he started again. Sarnoi didn't surprise me at all. I think he'll probably try for the Thai team now - however most of the Thai boxers are better than him. He's a great kid, just graduated from NMU and is going to USC for his Masters. He doesn't need to box. I watched Andres Taylor at the Westerns. He has good skills, but not enough to get him to the top. Today's bouts are going to be very interesting.

im thinking in the 152 weight classs don't be shocked if domqnuie dolton makes it far ht can fight , and j'leon love they both hungery and people don't know much about them but they got they goods to go far in make the upset wins , and ernasto graza every fight he has he comming to beat people down he don't try to out point you he's a dog to, so them guys should do it big and shock everybody thier
I guess the unfortunate thing from the US team is that Davis had already shown himself to be competitive internationally, based on the 2005 World's - and now there are a lot of unproven guys vying for that spot. But as you say Mel, you can't easily bounce back after you've been away for a while, especially with so many young guns coming up all the time.
So many interesting matchups today, and a lot of good fighters are going to be going pro very soon I guess.

I fully expect the older boxers and/or those who have waited for the past 4 years to turn pro if they don't make the Trials and/or the team. I honestly believe that any of the athletes just coming out of the JOs should wait another 4 years - unfortunately, many won't and we'll have to start all over again. The 125 bracket is definitely wide open. I won't even try to predict.
