Some Jung-Koo Chang Points

Post by joonie73 »

1. Ohashi was down 3 times in the 3rd round, not twice, as you have reported here.

2. Both Zapata I & Chitalada II were very CONTROVERSIAL. Ring magazine's Joe Koizumi had Chang winning the fight & WBC ordered a re-match. The Chitalada fight was even more controversial; I have yet to hear anyone say that Chitalada won the fight.

3. Kittikasem was knocked down 3 times in his fight with Chang (I don't know the rounds since I loaned my tape to someone else). You may want to note that, as a simple notation of Kittikasem KO12 is very misleading.

4. Lest you say that I am biased toward Chang, note that Torres II was also very controversial. There was a knockdown of Chang that the referee called a slip & that may have won Torres the fight. In fact, just as in the Zapata fight, the controversial results led to the 3rd fight.

I think this site is wonderful but your Asian fighters databases seem a bit behind. I'd be willing to supply whatever information I have.

In particular, there are a lot of controversial matches where the visitors are robbed in Asia (corruption level in Asia is unreal, as the Park v. Roy Jones fight in the Olympics attest to) & I feel unless these controversial fights are noted, readers will get very skewed views.

Some of the more famous robberies that you don't even note as "controversial" include:

Fighting Harada v. Pone Kingpetch II (Kingpetch won maybe 5 rounds & was put down once & had another knockdown waived off as a slip by the incompetent referee)

Chan-Hee Park v. Shoji Oguma II (possibly the most famous robbery involving a Korean fighter on the victim end)

Lakva Sim v. Jong-Kwon Baek (possibly the most famous robbery involving a Korean fighter on the beneficiary end)

Chan-Hee Park v. Miguel Canto II (even Koreans admit that Canto should've won)

Sot Chitalada v. Yong-Kang Kim II (Chitalada was the beneficiary of more high-profile gifts than anyone I can remember)

Chong-Pal Park v. Lindell Holmes II (even Park admitted he lost the fight afterwards; listen to what the Korean announcers say toward the end of the fight)
