thing is, when Kessler was beating Siaca, Mundine & Lucas, who was Joe fighting? Salem, Veit (rematch) & Ashira. These were well below par for any title holder.
Mundine's title reigns aren't credible because they are for a nonsense belt. But I still think he outboxed Siaca enough to win a decision. He's a fine boxer who's now added some spite to his slickness and I'd take him over Jermain Taylor any day of the week.
Not just a nonsense belt Mundine never fought credible challengers other than Siaca for that belt.
Even now he's chosen a guy not rated In WBA.
I don't dispute Calzaghe's opp at the time though, It was worse, Veit was Inkin's step up though so he might be an underrated win for Calzaghe still though.

Mundine's a terrific boxer but he's just not - and has never been - a world champion. He could go on to win a proper one, though.
Veit has some class. But he is a wimp and throws few punches. He nearly dropped Joe with a great shot. I liked the way Inkin dealt with him. Steady, methodical, merciless. Like you say, a good step up opponent, when you rise from Euro to world class. But not the best title defense, IMO.
