Dont mean to rub this in you lads faces but i share a house with a girl pal of mine who when was ordering the NTL packages told me she got the sports channels for me... i asked which package and she informed me she just told the customer service guy "sure you may as well give me all of them".... i get every setanta channel for 18 euro a month...

free boxing for me...yay!

Its only something like £15 for 3 months of setanta. For that you get Cotto Judah, Hatton castillo, the first month of premiership games and fight academy have signed a 6 fight deal with them, so you may also get a woods fight or another fight academy show.

ok so you buy 1 month and get the next 2 free. but you're not obigligated to like have the channel for a year are you?

There is a sneaky little clause where you have to cancel between 2 dates - someting like the 1st and 10th of August - to avoid getting billed for the 3rd and 4th months of coverage - Setanta are hoping many will forget and there subscriptyions will role over into the football season proper I suppose..

Still, 15 quid for a 2 key fights and a few premiership games doesnt sound too bad now does it??

i've looked into it. if you have Virgin - like I do - then the offer doesn't even stand. i have to go £15 a month every month. I'll bet you can't cancel the channel when you;re sick of it either until after a year or something stupid.

See the small print at the bottom of the Ad on the back of this months Boxing Monthly - I was only looking at the Sky details personally.

Well I've got broadband now, so no fekking way am I shelling out any more money to Setanta or anyone else, I already pay 37 quid a month to sky and 26 quid a month for BT broadband, so bollocks to it.

I'll watch it on my tiddly wee screen.

BT are a rip off, I am with them and it costs me £26 a month also, when I moved house the line was disconnected in the new property so they told me if they enabled it I would not be able to go with another phone or internet provider for 3 months so I ended up signing with them for my Internet, good thing is I only have 2 months left on it and I am going to go with sky at £5 a month.

NO!!!!

Don't do it! The reason I went with BT is due to my horrific experience with sky.

Sky are utterly and completely useless. I signed up with them, and a month after the activation date still nothing.

Sky at first told me it was BT's fault, that BT had a problem at their exchange, but I then found out from BT that Sky had installed their equipment at the exchange, and the problem was Sky's. When I pointed this out to sky, they suddenly miraculously 'discovered' that indeed, there was a fault, but had no idea when this would be rectified.

After about 20 pointless phone calls to moronic customer service drones in India, who read from their check lists, despite me telling them that Sky themselves had told me the problem was with their equipment, I tired of all of this, and decided I wanted rid of Sky as they hadn't actually given me any service.

Nobody could tell me when this problem was rectified, and then Sky tried to charge me two months broadband in advance, and told me that despite the fact I had no service, I would have to pay and then get a refund on my bill, despite not know when the service would commence.
I phoned up and told sky I wanted to cancel my service, and was told that I couldn't because the 'eight day cooling off period' had elapsed. I eventually found out I could migrate to another provider by getting a MAC code, so I phoned to get this, but it never arrived in the post, despite the fact that legally they are required to do so within 5 days.

The email worked, my MAC code arrived monday after the email I sent on Friday, and they took 60 quid off my sky TV bill.

In the end, I emailed James Murdoch at Sky corporation, and told them I wanted my MAC code to migrate to another supplier immediately, and that if they didn't take some money off my bill for all my trouble
BT are the best broadband service provider by some distance, they may be expensive, but bear in mind that most of the other broadband providers use BT engineers to do installations, so BT have the expertise.

DO NOT go with Sky, they haven't a clue what they are doing, they don't have the expertise to handle it, and their speeds are absolutely terrible by all accounts, if you are lucky enough to get service from them!

I've gone for a big package (ooer) with the home hub and phone and unlimited downloads, it's a 5 mbit line (actual speed) the maximum is 8 I think, but depends how far from the exchange, my maximum speed was listed at 5.4 mbit or something.

It's actually 22.99, but is 13.99 for the first 6 months.

I'd rather pay more and have a reliable service, than pay less and have a highly dubious 'bargain' as my post above inidicates.

I have a couple of mates on the same street as me and they are with sky and have had no problems at all.

I have now had 4 replacement home hubs in a 10 month period due to them been faulty and have spent hours on the phone to you guessed it a Indian call center, they have problems understanding people from the UK at the best of times but trying to understand a Geordie who is extrmely pissed off must have been a incredible challenge for them as it was for me understand wtf they were going on about

BT have now took the liberty of bottlenecking my internet connection speed to 10kb/s from 4pm and 11.30pm daily.

Went to sign up and it says just before you put your card details in

"All new subscriptions are subject to a 12 month minimum contract period."

Well I'm glad to hear someone has something positive to say about Sky broadband, as I just signed up with the feckers....the free deal you get with a Sky premium package - I only need a 2 speed really.

Read your post James and thought oh Jesus....wondering if I should change back to BT, as it was only 2 days ago I cancelled.

BT offered me 5 quid discount per month, a free set top box and 50 quid to fix one of my phone line boxes...as long as I stick with them.

Anyone else have Sky broadband comments??

Don't know, but you may be able to pay over the phone with your credit-debit card?
