..the book "jimmy young..heavyweight challenger" (doubleday signal) has a good write up of the aali fight. young blamed himself for the loss..said he should ahve been more aggressive. by the loss, he is referring to the decision...he thought he won the fight, as did everyone but the three judges, my son, stevie wonder and five other people whose names i can't recall.

But..it is my understanding that his memory of most
recent events was faulty in the last years of his life.

Correct, it's an excellent interview.

Fair point, but only if viewed with an open mind, with no agenda of course.
granberry wrote:"Quotes" in a pathetic boxing magazine published in the year 2003 about a fight that took place in 1976 can be worth less than the paper they are written on..
The "quotes" were from Jimmy Young himself made in 2003, worth more than anything written on a Boxing Forum you could argue?

It was an excellent interview in my opinion and the respect of the interviewer for Jimmy was evident for all to see.

IFeelLikeAFairy,

Young exposed Ali for all time as the mediocrity he was.

The only recourse the Ali industry has is to pretend the fight never happened.
Nope, I don't pretend that the fight never happened, and I've said that I thought Young won. But, while you'll make a lot of excuses for Ali's opponents, Ali was 235 pounds for Young. He was 34, and wasn't the same coming out of Manila. But that doesn't seem to bother you, I wonder why...

If you can't see the difference between 64-75 Ali and the Ali who fought Young then you don't deserve to talk about these subjects.
