Chauncy Welliver vs Joey Wilson
Chauncy Welliver vs Joey Wilson
How is Joey Wilson, he's 3-1, does he have a chance? I saw he lost a four round split decision to Richard tutaki a previous Welliver opponent (W10 for Welliver)

That sucks Chauncy. I was hoping that you would be able to fight someone really well if you had the undercard to Cameron-Davis. This is a terrible match-up and if its more then 6 rounds I can't see you winning by any way but KO. On the other hand even though the Tutaki fight sadly was scrapped this joke of a fight means that you can fight better people faster. How about Minto? You both have the same manager. Maybe you could get an ESPN date? Still if nothing else you should at least have the Boose fight. That would definately be good for you and a step in the right direction. That and Haumono who can only help you more after several more fights. Oh yeah and maybe Alonzo Butler. Hopefully if the guy ever decides to step it up.
To be fair to Chauncy he had no say in who he was to fight on this show. We had Solomon Haumono lined up for him Chauncy agreed to that fight and so did Haumonos team the fight was on, but Haumono himself turned it down last minute. We were left with a month to find a replacement we wanted a guy Chauncy hadnt fought before and that counts out alot of NZ heavys, the talent pool isnt deep here! Cameron wont fight him, Meehan wont fight him, Hopoate wouldnt go near him, a Wilson fight is set to be made in the near future but wasnt an option for this show and Mirovic is still in limbo after his Cameron KO. Even Frank Atu wont fight him, most likely because of the battering Chuancy gave him during a sparring session.
So as you can see the options are very limited. Wilson is tough and Chauncy will put on a good show as per usual. Its a good opportunity to have him on national TV here in NZ again with a reply to be broadcasted in Aussie. It's all exposure that will help with bigger fights down the line, boxing is a business, we'd love to make the big fights for every fight but it doesnt work that way. Chauncy is a fighter, he'll fight anyone put in frotn of him and on Junr 28th that person will be Joey Wilson!

You misunderstand N2. I meant it sucks that people won't give him a better chance. I realize that Chauncy wants to fight the best. That's why I hope he fights Eric Boose who has been after him. It not only gets him a title but a meaningful fight and maybe some coverage. As for NZ maybe you could get Tua to fight him there. Why not, its not like Tua has his career going anywhere right now.
I wasnt having a go at you FinitoLopez just making it known what the deal is. Your right it does suck but thats the game.
He'll spar with Cameron while down here and thats another rason hes here. But its a shame those types of guys wont fight him.
A fight with tua here in NZ would be HUGE. Chauncy would love that fight, but who really knows what Tua's doing? And I doubt they would fight Chauncy because they know he can take a punch and will likely make Dave look very ordinary! If it was offered to us we'd take it here in NZ in a heart beat!

Make David look normal. Thats funny. If he can take a punch (we all know he can) then he would make him look like a joke. David has lost everything but his power and if he can't win with power he just can't win. Maybe if you guys offer him enough money. Seriously just call him. Its not like anyone else is beating down his door.

Well truth be told I can only manage one-fourth.
Seriously though I just wish Chauncy would get his chance. I'm fine if he loses to someone like Cameron, or Meehan, or even Tua (even though I don't think he would) because then I can say he got his shot. But thats the problem. He can't. He is stuck in limbo with all these guys around him fighting people just slightly better then him. It sucks. Wonder if Bobby Dobbs still wants Chauncy fighting Donnell Holmes though....
We have talked with Kali's people again, they are sparring Brewster in the US and then sitting around hoping to fight the winner of Brewtser VS Klitschko II for the title. Same situation as the December p9th 2006 fight we had lined up! King ties all these guys up and wont let them fight a semi live body incase it ruins his chance of putting them up for a title.
I cant see what good other than another W a fight against Meehan would do for Klitschko. A rematch with Brewster though makes sense, after there close fight first time round.

You're completely right. He hasn't done dick since losing to Rahman. Even with the the state of things atm he surely needs a fight of dome sort just to get a #15 ranking with someone.N2 Shape wrote:We have talked with Kali's people again, they are sparring Brewster in the US and then sitting around hoping to fight the winner of Brewtser VS Klitschko II for the title. I think a fight with Beck would be a great step. Let's get it!FinitoLopez wrote:By the way Chauncy I saw you got a change in opponents. Not hugely better but at least the guys got more experience. Good luck and maybe you can lure some guys out. Maybe Williamson or Beck in Tampa. I wasn't going to go to the fights but if you can get a fight with one of them I'll pay to see it.

Well there fighting in Tampa and part of Don King promotions. Crap, if only I had some ties to the boxing promoters. Still, until they have opponents listed who knows. It is on July 7, but I'm leaving for college soon and would like to see a fight live. Which is why it wouldn't hurt to have a fighter I knew in it.

Cedric Boswell is looking for an opponent in August. On Silverhawk's website, they say that Boswell will fight any heavyweight in the World, so lets make that fight...It would be a huge win on either fighters resume and since Silverhawk has posters on Boxrec and Chauncy and his promoters post on Boxrec, I dont see why we couldn't get this one done!!!
