They look about right. Remember he signed the Sky deal (first fight of the deal was Amaral) which was supposed to be £10million for eight fights in 11 months, but Olympia was only half-full against Amaral because the World Cup semi-finals were on the same day, and Steve Collins wanted something like £200,000 to go through with the fight at Millstreet (Eubank originally supposed to be fighting Ray Close at Kings Hall again for £2million on SKY and Showtime a week before Benn-McClellan but Close failed a brain scan).

Stretch wouldn't have had as big a share of the purse as Watson, and Benn made £1million from each of the Eubank fights. I know the (first) Watson fight was a £1million fight and that Watson was on half of what Eubank was.

This was all astronomical money back then, when you consider Errol Christie and Mark Kaylor were on like 50 grand each and Barry McGuigan only ever used to make about 100 grand. Benn made more against Eubank than Bruno did against Tyson the year before (£1million to $1million).

Tickets were often double-priced for Eubank fights and still sold-out, all over Britain and he only ever had an army of about 30 or so from Brighton, no more than that.

Those were the days, we'd have 10 fights a year involving Benn and Eubank whereas now we only have one fight a year of Calzaghe..

It was as if Benn and Eubank were boxing, other than the Bowe-Holyfield fights and Lennox Lewis.. ITV Big Fight Live on a Saturday night with either the chimes of Big Ben and a tear-up or the tune of Tina Turner and a leap over the top rope.. great fornicating stuff.. I used to love the old tune as well for Big Fight Live, I miss it..

They look about right? On what facts do you base your opinion. I KNOW they aren't right.

You are obviously privvy to information others here aren't?

What's your point?

If someone thinks the figures look 'about right' then they are obviously basing it on their opinion of the sort of areas they figure those fights would be worth.

Personally I would have thought Eubank would have earnt more for some of those fights, but again, I'm not privvy to these figures, and they certainly aren't in the public domain.

Eubank was a fantastic personality, and great for the game. But lets not make out all his fights were top notch. Benn 1 was terrific, not Benn 2. The Watson fights were good, and Chris was probably at his very best against Rocchigiani. (And Ronnie Davies was at his best in his calf length SS-style leather coat to rev up the Germans) But there were some stinkers. That one against Dan Schommer rivalled some of Johnny Nelson's worst nights. And that says something. By his own admission, Chris wasn't the same after the Watson night.

The big money was from American tv and subscription tv-Eubanks had neither ( until the 2nd Close fight and SKY deal ) so had to rely on higher ticket prices than everyone else ( due to his alter ego, ring entry, poses ), endorsements/sponsorships from Russel Athletic and Levis etc (and Daily Mirror ) , and finding opponents who'd accept shitty purses:) He did well!

Like he said he was the 'master of brinkmanship' which kept viewers at suspense until the scorecards were read out:) THAT kept his view figures up when you'd expect them drop-guy was a genius imo

Froch hasn't even fought a world class opponent and except for his mandatries, has even had his Euro opponents chosen at the right time.

No way would he be a threat to Joe.
