i'm almost finally ready to demand the hatton-witter fight.

if witter beats harris he'll have cemented himself as the no1 contender at light welterweight.

i certainly don't want the fight cos witter holds a title.

that we be cheats title means nothing.

but witter's wins have improved of late and u can't ask for more than that.

If Hatton did not fight him who do you suggest would have with of course the coveted WBA bauble on the line at the time.
lets not go down this road again....hatton has 'binned' all of the titles he has won ! where is a champions pride and a champions mentality...take on all comers etc..

truth..... hatton is interested in 'pretty green' and not legacy !!
castillo or n'dou.

Rhino, if you dealt with the facts instead of your clear hatred for anything Hatton you will realise that Junior Witter is simply not marketable. You have to commend Hennessy Sports for the job they are doing in making out his popularity is increasing by putting him on a show wedged between either 2 top london ticket selling boxers or a decent nottingham show where the lads do commendably well selling tickets.

But in reality what happens, no matter where you place those ticket selling boxers in the schedule their fans oddly stay in the bar until their favourite is due to box, they will not listen to the pleads of "Junior Witter the world champion is due to box now". Then if you make a ticket selling boxer box before Witter is due to box the fans eff off to the clubs and pubs and yet again Witter and his mini bus half full of fans are left in the venue in an amazingly drab world title fight.

Junior Witter is a brilliant bloke but quite simply he is amzingly reluctant to burst out with the talent he clearly has to showcase his skills. Witter seems reluctant to go to plan b if he does not knock out his opponents in the first 4 rounds.

The Vivian Harris is a fight Witter should win, but if he stinks the place out this time he can say goodbye to any P4P fighter getting into the ring with him.

I like efficient fighters, who have mastered all the punches, learned all the ways to negate their opponents fire, and know how to navigate the # of rounds they are scheduled for. I hate this limbo dancing skirt wearing bollox. Makes evryone think yorkie fighters are arrogant insecure wankers. Even if they're not, because they look like they are.

Read it...im calling Collazo a belt holder like Witter, Collazos legitimacy as a world champ is comparable to Witters at LW...Collazo is better for Hatton though as he is a WELTER champ, a step up
At least Witter won the legit WBC belt in the ring, Collazo was only given the real WBA belt because Baldomir didn't pay his fees. And the fact Hatton ran from a rematch and ran back down to Light-Welter says something

No ones claiming Witters undisputed, but hes the WBC champ, which is an acheivement few British boxers ever achieve. Beating Corley, Kotelnik, Ndou to get there, who were all top 10 ranked fighters is no small task. And Morua might not be great but he beat Maussa
Witter's still an alphabet champ. He picked up the crown vacated by Mayweather. OK, maybe Mayweather should have fought him, but then Witter would have got a pasting. Witter sadly missed the boat. There was a time when he had all that speed and could have been a real handful at world class.

autobarn, you are exactly right missed the boat when he could have and should have and would have been good enough but he did not take that all important gamble, now he has no chance.

Didn't Hatton make out he could sell out the MEN fighting anyone though or something simular?

Screw being Marketable Witter's a good opponent for Hatton

Autobarn Mayweather was an alphabet champ too picking the belt up against Gatti who got that belt because Tszyu was stripped.

The way Hatton can be full of excuses for his fights but Witter can't be when someone mentioned Kotelnik and Lynes. Witter beat Kotelnik unlike M'Baye and much clearer too.

Hatton's contradicting at times like when It comes to Witter.

What gamble? If Autobarn can say Commonwealth Level Africans are being ducked then what about Witter being ducked?

Witter's at world class now too.

shut up you muppet, im not anti hatton at all, as a bloke ricky is a top man, im just disappointed in the way his career has gone downhill since he beat KT, in my opinion its all been about money, hatton avoided the likes of cotto and pbf when it suited. lets be honest, a blown up shop worn castillo is not in the league of the 2 fellas i have mentioned. to call yourself top 10 p4p material you should be mixing it with the best...

Tho Mayweather is a class fighter and future Hall of famer he has 'avoided' the big names at numerous points..at LW he went nowhere near Hatton or KT, when he moved up to Welter he took on Baldomir who was in no way the legitimate champ..

Its all a bit funny with the numerous belts...did you see Oscar as a Middleweight champ when he beat Sturm?? No, it was a decent result but Hopkins was the champ..

Hatton beat the man, Hatton is the man and any belt holders have very liitle legitimacy in my eyes(though many of these fighters are top quality operators)

Mayweather himself admitted Gatti was a paper champ so in beating him that is exactly what Floyd became at 140.

So that makes him "an alphabet champ" ?

Mayweather derides every opponent, not just Gatti, and he's beaten the lot of them....

But back to Witter, he needs Hatton more than Hatton needs him, but I just can't see them ever getting it on...

Erm, yeah...though not meaning he isnt talented...he rarely fight the top man in the division..only twice in fact(Castillo and Oscar)

Could he beat Hatton, Margarito? Maybe yes but he didnt and that and that affects his claim to greatness

I did mention DLH but missed Hernandez(Castillo was also at SF) due to the fact that a lot of people that Casa would have beaten any of them.. However Mayweather got there first and therefore is the proper champ !

But Gatti and Baldomir no way constitute proper titles...

I agree, whilst Mayweather may have the best skills around (certainly defensively, at any rate), he hasn't beaten the man at any weight above 135.

Let's face it, it's dubious whether or not Oscar was even top 3 at 154. I'm not convinced Oscar would have beaten Karmazin or Ouma for instance. Oscar's best win at 154, was over Castillejo. Not a bad win at all of course, but Oscar never did anything to make himself the main man at 154 in the first place.

All this belt hopping is good in terms of making big name fights, but give me a fighter who stays in his division and cleans up any day.

Mayweather could have moved to 140 and stayed there and made a big statement, but I think he was dubious that he could beat everyone at the weight.

Mayweather offered Hatton a fight 5 times - Hattons father said as much. Hatton said he wouldn't be ready for 2 years. Hatton took away his right to be called undisputed by avoiding Mayweather.

Baldomir like it or not was the MAN and LINEAR Champ at 147, he also had the 2 best wins at Welterweight, Margarito was only a WBOgus champ.

The Vargas fight was a fight betweeen two of the top fighters at the time and it brought two belts together. I think Oscar had the right to be number one, then Shane and then Winky.
Vargas was, and has been shot to pieces for a long while now. He's a tough bastard, but he has had numerous health problems for the last few years. What did Vargas do to become a top Light Middle?

The only truly dominant light middleweight of the last 5 years has been Winky Wright. Vargas was at his peak then back in 1999, Winky hit his a bit later.

As I said before, all this belt hopping just muddies the waters.

I think that one cannot overlook Vargas' health problems, and the terrible beating he took from Trinidad.

Steroid use, thyroid problems, severe back problems, layoffs had taken their toll on Fernando.

That is not true. Regardless of the fight not being made you do not wipe-off the win over the genuine #1 just because of this. How long was Floyd a LW? Hatton is still the linear LW Champion.

People self-stripped Lewis for not fighting, the inferior to Mayweather in terms of a challenge, Ruiz straight after Rahman II. If Floyd wanted to dominate LW, or give justification for stripping Hatton of his title there, why only fight there three times?
I'm not saying Hatton wasn't Linear, he was, but hes not the clear number 1, if he turns down a fight with P4P no1 in his division and states 'hes not yet ready to face him for another 3 fights'
