Just reinforces what a farce the amateur scene in this country is nowadays, it's time they joined the rest of us in the 21st century!

I've been recently diagnosed with diabetes myself, and I can't see any reason at all why this lad can't box with it. In fact, it may even help his condition due to the exercise involved!

Gary Mabbut was a premiership player for many years , and also a diabetic, if the FA followed the same ruling as ABAE, then no lad would be allowed to play football. or take part in sports.

Mandatory retirement at 34 which is a joke, i'm 10 times fitter now than I was when i last boxed at 17.

Age, Diabetics, It should all be judged on a personal basis, not some stupid cutoff

Spot on Joe! the IABA are wankers and have meddled too much with the sport, the worst (nearly) rule was the super heavyweight division being capped at 14st 12lbs (209lbs)

Thankfully the Russians and the Cubans kicked up a massive fuss and that put a stop to that silly nearly rule.

The ABAE just follow the orders of the cretins in charge of the international game.

The age limit is a joke but I do actually think this will be scrapped one day soon!

But they actually changed the cut off mandatory retirement age from 35 to 34 recently........wankers.

Its actually people who have never boxed saying things like "anything to make the sport safer"
and these are the wankers making the rules for boxing, shatering my dreams and many many other people's too

I really do think it will, first of all amateur boxing is getting less people taking it up now that MMA gyms are springing up thus getting less boxers. Secondly the 'logic' of the IABA defies all medical and practical logic. People are getting fitter and stronger and age wasn't the factor as it was probably 30 years ago with better diets and lifestyle habits. Under scrutiny the IABA age limits and the reasons the enforce them are easily dismissed. You see Matt Skelton working hard for 12 rounds at the age of 41 and there is a extremely strong case for us oldies.

Thats a clip of Mal Meninga who is a novice boxer at this stage and at 41 years old shows fantastic hand speed and fitness. Would you bet against him if he landed one vs David Price? I wouldn't!

hope so, but the whheels are so slow on these things i'll probably be 50 before they finally accept they are wrong and change it.

You'll be up for the challenge if so... It has been posted on here but big Dolph Lungdren is doing the business here in a 4 rounder vs MMA fighter Oleg Tarakov and he is is 49!
