Magee gets his 'big' name

Post by bennie »

Brian Magee is to make the sixth defence of his IBO super-middleweight title against Hacine Cherifi of France on November 22 at the King's Hall in Belfast. Magee's opponent is a washed-up 35-year-old former WBC champion who was stopped in his last fight by an unimpressive Howard Eastman.
Barry Hearn is scraping the barrel here in my opinion.

Yes, all the talk about Robin Reid and they come up with Chefiri.

They havent put much thought into it.

What about Glenn Catley?

No doubt they'll be looking to compare Magee's performance with that of Robin Reid 6 years ago. Unfortunately Cherifi is clearly not the same fighter.

Expect Magee to look pretty impressive against this guy.

in 2000, three years ago, a life time in boxing terms... the press said Cherifi was shot after getting a beating from Joppy... now several fights and 8lbs later he is fighting Magee....

Yeah, I'm afraid Cherifi is finished - his last fight showed this.

I expect Magee to win and possibly in early fashion.

Its a shame because Cherifi should have been a double weight world champion, but Robin Reid got a controversial decision and blamed his performance on the death Prince Diana.

I actually feel for it, but was surprised he was still in morning when he faught Malinga.

Yeah it's a disappointing opponent considering the hype, i am still a little iffy over the way his last opponent rolled over mind you, all the talk of a classy hook to the top of the head  Considering his tough guy record the Argentinian fella seemed to be looking for a payday IMO.

Not Magee fault, and you wouldn't have thought it was the managers fault etiehr. But yes, it did look like he wanted no part of the action.
