Well there is either a loophole in their contracts with ITV or they have done a runner to Setanta.

I wouldn't be surprised to see SN follow suit.

I'll bet Warren is waiting to see if Hatton gets torn to pieces, with Setanta desperate to catch the boxing ball.

McGuigan will be okay once he gets away from ITV. He used to be good on Sky until he resorted to verbal blowjobs of Amir Khan and the like on ITV.

Dino you talk shite. Setanta has about 150,000 subscibers very poor. It would be bad move for boxing if Warren leaves ITV and goes there.

Does look as if ITV have pulled the plug on boxing - Surely this team hasnt been assembled just for one event, no matter how big it is - Looks good maybe we will get some good boxing on Setanta - The next big news has to be SN moving to Setanta but without exclusive rights.

Lets get real boxing has gone down hill since fw went to itv, new blood in the subscription market will bring all the big fights to our living room on either channel, sky's monopoly is over, itv made a balls of it and we know it.

I think Dino works for Setanta sports, how is it good for the consumer having to fork out for two sports channels. A lot of people wont bother with it.

If it boils down to Sky and Setanta competing, I will have both because they'll be competitive with one another,e ach one trying to outdo the other. If you can afford it, you can't afford to miss out.

Let's face it, cyinical ratings driven ITV wanted stars, they paid for names/titles, they didn't pay for fights. More fool them. The Beeb were rubbish, too, in their choices of fights (Audley) but at least they had US coverage.

I feel only Sky and Setanta know what they're doing. Can you imagine ITV showing Cotto-Judah? There needs to be an OPEN, COMPETITIVE MARKET, with no exclusives.

Rumour has it ITV are giving Warren a lesser contract, btw.

But boxing needs a big audience as well. I can afford it but a lot of people wont bother getting Setanta sports as well.

Very true. I agree. But it seems like Warren had his chance and abused it. The audience shrank from what, 6m for the first lardy heavyweight fight, to 3m for the Manfredo Mockery.

I think its a bit early to judge if Setanta know what they are doing, they've brough in Duke after all!. There have been plenty of good fights missed by Sky that have been missed by Setanta also. Would Cotto vs Judah been bought had it not been for Castillo vs Hatton?

Also, ITV wanted Khan and Hatton... They thought they would be getting both. However, it was probably the ONLY way they would get both (I think the Hatton defection took everyone by surprise). It was probably the exclusive deal or no deal.

I know John Rawling over on Doghouseboxing has spoken of ITV's desire to show other fights and I'm sure the rumours that Hatton vs Castillo on ITV were true. However, Warren's contract meant that any other fights could not be shown (with his consent I guess).

Lets hope ITV are not done with Boxing.... Lets hope Sports Network do renew but not on an exclusive deal.

missed out on the DHB insider stuff. my PC just cannot take the popup/ad abuse. nor can my brain. i guess that's how they pay their writers (i know chee makes a bit from his maxboxing news wire as well).

Yes, the jury is out on Setanta. Is this all empty flash? We'll see. Personally I'd like to see ALL get involved and get it right. I can manage two subscription channels. Let's face it - the Beeb and ITV know how NOT to do it. Maybe they can do it right.

Good points on ITV and Hatton/Khan. You're right. Those were the two names. The real champ and the future, for example.

Going slightly off the subject a little. If anyone is thinking of changing from Sky to Setanta - then I'd be interested if we could come to an arrangement in a sort of swapsies. There is no way I can afford Setanta beyond the Hatton fight, so maybe I could tape the Sky fights and swap for when Setanta show fights.

If anyone is interested in the future, drop me a PM.

Was gonna say the same thing if people looked into alternative suppliers such as NTL were you get both sky sports and Setanta as bolt ons then maybe they wouldnt be so bitter. Think about it if hatton vs castillo was on sky it would be a ppv costing around £40 so if you get setanta for the three months for £18 purely for the fight it still works out cheaper!!

Sky is shite as a whole anyway irrespective of the boxing coverage seriously if people ae being honest they watch maybe a dozen channels regularly out of how many hundred?
