Brudov - Arslan WBA Interim CW Title

Post by Axe »

Brudov has apparently improved significantly after the first Hill fight, as evidenced in his impressive showing to capture the WBA interim belt at 200 lbs against Pineda. He is a terrifying puncher but slick movers who can circle for 12 rounds will always give him trouble.

Arslan is a tough fighter who is getting up there in age, but some are picking him to win here.

Personally I find it ridiculous that Brudov is defending the WBA interim title, he should be moving on to a showdown with the title holder Virgil Hill in a rematch soon...shouldn't he?

This is doubally stupid really.

1) Why wasn't Virgil Hill stripped after his loss to Maske. He hasn't defended the title in pretty much two years.

2) How is Brudov involved... Hill practically won via a shutout.

I read Arslan won a split, as for the WBA nonsense Hill should just do the dignified thing and retire. Hill-Maske II was like watching paint dry waiting for Maske to throw a punch of any description.

I actually quite enjoyed the fight. Fair play to Maske - he did well, although I do buy Hill's injury excuse. He did seem a bit Holyfield esque in not letting the punches go... and Holyfield has looked better (still not great, but better) since his injuries have healed up.

Arslan very poor Hobson was beating him to cut stopped him. The WBA cruiserweight title a joke.

I had Brudov winning, this was a controversial decision imo...though it was a fairly close fight.

As to Hill, to me it doesn't matter whether or not he was injured, he is past it by now (despite his great longevity), and Maske, who hasn't taken one quarter of the punishment that Hill has, took advantage of that. In their primes, Hill beat him in his backyard, which is what matters imo.

Though if he was injured maybe we'll see him hold the title for a little longer, who knows.

Mormeck is the champ, the rest of these title belts mean nothing. As it happens though even if you give credence to the title belts Mormeck is still the WBA champ. Maske's and Arslan's titles mean nothing.
