Enzo IS very good. But he's not exactly been able to show it in good company. No one else has stopped Dominguez. And he showed a lot to pull through rough spots in thrillers vs Bruce Scott and Hobson. I believe he's world class. But no way is he a world champion as yet. A lot of ppl will disrespect him because of the SN connecion. Meaning quite a few low rent dangerman will get their faces rearranged.

Still, right now you have to give Haye credit for gunning for Mormeck (proper champion) while Enzo maybe gets Braithwaite (former titlist who got battered by Mormeck).

It's obvious Enzo has massive power for a cruiser (though probably wouldn't be remarkable at heavy), but we don't know if he'll be effective against a slick opponent.

Maybe he'd 'Marciano' Haye down, or maybe he'd look plodding and clumsy... Which is why fans are keen to see him at a higher level.

Correct, Braithwaite is a solid test for Enzo, but otherwise Haye is 100% spot on. :TU:

The Welshman KO'd Mark Hobson the established British and Commonwealth champion.

He also KO''d ex WBC champ Dominguez, being the first to floor or stop him.

Other than that highlights prob include flooring tough guy Garry Delaney 7 times and coming from the brink to KO ex Brit champ Bruce Scott for the WBU bauble.

Apparently Paul Bonson has been quoted that he had never been hit as hard before when he fought Enzo.

Braithwaithe obviously represents another step up in class and it will be interesting to see how he fares.

These credentials hardly put Macca in an elite class but they are not a joke and certainly make him a good fighter.

Agreed. No-one can say Enzo is a proven top-tier fighter, and his billing as 'world champion' is somewhat dodgy. But calling him a 'good' fighter is hardly out of order: he's shown some ability at times, and I think he may just shock a few people. He needs some good opponents sharpish though, because his record has some dismal names on it. Braithwaite is a step in the right direction.

I think he'll surprise as well. He has a tremendous left hook counter. Braithwaite doesn't know what he's doing when he switches stances. He does it without aim. Macca looks the bigger, stronger guy. I'd say he has a harder punch as well. His reputation has hit rock bottom because of how he's been managed, but that doesn't mean he can't fight.

Calzaghe's days are numbered. It makes sense to step Enzo up now. He can take over with the fans when Joe retires. A KO win will get people talking and would easily drum up big interest (as much as is possible for a cruiserweight).

Furthermore Haye's destruction of the likes of Gurov and Bonin don't prove he is top world class.

However his challenge to Mormack will show us far more.

Both Haye and Macca's intangables leave as many questions as answers but that is what makes them both such exciting fighters.

Hopefully they will both be genuine world champs and then can fight each other for ultimate glory.

It's a nice thought nut i think Haye-Macarinelli is doomed to failure, British Boxing is more of a business these days where money making and record padding is the order of the day. The days of solid domestic scraps to move onto the next level (usually European) are gone. Fake world titles rule the roost.

That's what i like about the Australian fight scene, before they ascent to the higher level the domestic guys usually fight ona nother first. Look at Paul Briggs clocking Glenn Kelly before going onto world title challenges, Anthony Mundine beating Soliman now twice and Green, Green himself moved up to Light Heavyweight and immediately fought two of the best in Australia to establish himself in Jason DeLisle and Paul Murdoch. It should be commonplace in Britain for the best to fight for the best but it's not.

I see that in today's column in the NOTW, Frank has more things to say on this. Basically, that since Haye has said that he wants to fight Mormeck, that he obviously doesn't fancy the fight against Enzo, even though the date was there. Indeed, he's spoken to Don King and they said it would make a great 'tourney' where the winner of a fight against Enzo and Haye would meet either Mormeck or Cunningham.

Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm wondering how Frank comes to this conclusion? He reckons that Haye doesn't want to fight Enzo, so instead is willing to fight the number one ranked cruiserweight in the world to get out of it? Eh? :-? Is it any wonder that people have reservations anytime a statement is made from SN about upcoming fights when we're met with spin like this (and not very good spin at that)?? Jeez Frank, I know that your TV contract is under threat, but surely you can do better than this?

Haye wants to take on the best fighter at his weight, what's wrong with that? Whilst Enzo's being fed the likes of Bobby Gunn, Haye has been fighting dangerous names and a ranked heavyweight. I know whose point of view I'd rather go with in this, and it isn't yours!

I just read that - next time FW or one of his fighters doesnt make a fight, we will say they never wanted it ever, and never ever will - thats fair isnt it?

Haye beating Gurov proves he's world class. Gurov was top 10 and gave Mormeck a very hard fight.

I would agree with the above post.

And....a certain sunday newspaper column is very strong propoganda most of the time, it's rather like giving a promoter an exclusive TV contract giving them a newspaper column.

While most of the time it's there to promote and give information on Boxing to the general public, sometimes it can be manipulated by the author to give a "different" spin on matters and put across his/her point of view as gospel. All hypothetically speaking of course.

Err....allegedly :-?

Exactly Steve :TU:

You would hope, that the news of the world got allegedly on board to report from the world of boxing, rather than let him use it as he does(for his child like call outs and insults)

The man is an UTTER pudendum :TU:

What made me chuckle, was when my girlfriend(who knows fvck all about boxing)showed me the story and said "Fwank is talking bollocks again today in the paper"

Haye is using Mormeck as a way of out of fighting the MIGHTY Enzo!

My god,if someone here posted that, they would get soooo much shit it's untrue!!!

The sad thing is,with all this nonsense being spouted,I'am starting to hope Braithwaite KTFO of Enzo(something which I would'nt like to see happen to Macca, but would I LOVE to see the look on old allegedly's sour face!!!)
Which is a shame,as Enzo seem's a decent chap.

NOTW are one of sports network sponsors, which no doubt influences their decision to allow Warren his own carte blanche column.

Does make me laugh how in Sundays collum he goes on about how much of a mistake Haye has made in not fighting Enzo. Yet he finishes the article by saying he doubts Haye will make weight against Mormeck.

Agree with Haye here, why offer Haye the fight when he's supposed to be fighting JMM In September?

Wait and see...you forget Haye hasn't actually fought Mormeck yet and my money's on the fact that if Warren and/or King win the purse offers Haye will pull out stating he can't do the weight.

He talks a good fight but........

You really should get a career set of Haye's - he is quite an exciting fighter who isnt afraid to take risks.

If only FW had a few like him in his stable.. :(

So do you think David will refuse to fight on any SN shows?

Is that the same for Froch, who vacated his title rather than defend it on a FW show for top money?

He has already stated he is happy to fight in France.

If a promoter wins purse bids, is it usual or allowable to demand options?

why is Warren so bent on teaming up with outside parties to sweep the Haye-Mormeck? I mean if he has such little opinion of Haye, why not just mind his own business?

There are roadblocks to this unification plan. Don't forget Cunningham is pencilled in to fight Adamek in Sept (which the Polish are raving about at the moment) and that 'USS' must face top contender Marco Huck when the Germans press for it, too. It sounds like they're just trying to upset Haye so that he disappears up to heavyweight.

Macca v Big Truck is a good fight. But is it any better than Calzaghe vs Charles Brewer? i.e. dangerous titlist 2 years past his peak...

....as mentioned, he fights a good one too (he's backed up his words with actions before), so no reason he would pull out of a SN promotion unless he doesn't want to fight for your mate which, to be honest, I wouldn't blame him for.

I wonder if your opinion of Setanta has changed recently?
