Pongsaklek Vs Darchinian?

Post by Sweet P »

I have just read that Pong has been offered 250,000 dollars US to face Vic in the USA. I really hope this fight comes off as this is Vics natural weight and going up chasing fights will only end in disaster eventually.

I heard Vic the other day talking about moving up after his next fight to fight Cristian Mijares.

I can't see the Pong fight coming off as Pong seems content in beating up over matched opponents lately. Still it'd be a great fight for Vic to try and get the recognition he wants.

Scott Mallon said on the current scene that he has spoken to Pong (or at least his camp) and the fight won't happen...

Vic needs a big fight badly, I also hope he doesn't have to go up in weight to get it but he has been campaigning where he is for a while with no real result...

I just interviewed him a few days ago and then spoke with his management. They apparently do want to fight Darchinyan - at least they say they do. They've got three fights scheduled for this year, one of which may be Koki Kameda. Wonjongkam's manager stated "everything is negotiable but we need to get through these next few fights before it's time to fight Darchinyan."

Fight News should have my interview up in the next 24 hours and I may send The Sweet Science an article on Wonjongkam and what's going on. So far, all I've seen is alot of talk but hopefully the fight will come off. I were a betting man (and I am), despite what I've been told, I don't think the fight will come off. When I see it I'll believe it.

Also - in the next day or two, on my site http://www.boxinginasia.com, I'll have a video interview with Wonjongkam.

It would make up for a lot if Wong took on Kameda and Darchinyan.

Like I've been saying, when I see it, I'll believe it. He MAY take on Kameda, who knows. At this point I want to see him fight someone good and stop talking about it.

depends who else Kameda can fight for a flyweight title. If Sakata keeps his belt vs Vasquez, it looks like Sakata-Kameda would be pretty big.

However, one of Kameda's recent opponents is a Wong victim - always a good way of getting the names linked.

Since Viloria messed up Koki hasn't had the superfight they've been seeking. Can't see a bigger one out there than Kameda-Pong.
