Former Commonwealth Superfeatherweight champion gets an unexpected title fight against WBC champion Jesus Chavez on November the 21st.
At first, I was quite surprised that this fight has been sanctioned for the title, given Juuko's recent role as a journeyman for the likes of Cotto. However, in many of his defeats he has been campaign at Lightweight and scored a good win in 2001 against Antionio Ramerez.
He was not deemed worthy to challenge Diego Corrales and lost to him in a non-title fight.
Whilst Juuko in the past has shown he was up with the European title opposition he's alwaysed failed at elite level. However, whilst Chavez had a career best win last time, he did look for the large past outclassed by Mayweather (much like Juuko).
Obviously, Chavez starts as an overwhelming favourite and its hard not to back him. But, I wish Juuko all the best and hope he can do it.
Having seen him as a Kid in the Hamed vs Robinson bill I've always looked out for his career, what a turnaround it would be if he caused a sensation.

Yes I agree, (yeah!! at last). I more hopeful rather than confident, but it would be good if he can pul it off.

he is definately past his best but will get well paid and has a chance to upset the applecart.... he told me chavez is probably already thinking of Morales and that will be his downfall...

Justin was a great fighter in his day (I can remember him giving Mickey Cantwell a concussion in the 1990 Commonwealth Games at light-flyweight!), but I don't know whether he has enough left to upset the applecart against Chavez. Still, it's a better match than the original one proposed between Chavez and Jorge Paez. Paez really ought to get out.

Must concede that this is also true but because I've met Jukko and think he's a nice chap I'm pleased for him getting the cash and the shot just the same as I guess you would be if say Witter or another Sheffield based fighter you know were in the same position.lightsoot wrote:What a farce. I do agree with the comments of Lightsoot and Southpaw Stylist. I actually think that Paez is probably more deserving of a title shot. Paez still only loses to world class fighters and also is still one of THE biggest TV attractions. Check out telefuntarama (spelling??) ratings after he tops the bill, they always break records.

However, I was very impressed with Chavez in his last fight. Morales vs Chavez is not the foregone conclusion I was thought it was.
