I remember it well from my youth. Used to be one of the highlights of my week. Bernard Manning, Colin Crompton, Charlie Williams, all sadly no longer with us. The show also featured George Roper, Frank Carson, Dougie Brown and, of course, Ken Goodwin. Wonder whether they'll put it out on DVD. They don't make 'em like that any more!rhino222 wrote:ha ha... ive also got the box set of mind your language too, and im working on collecting it aint half hot mum..
but the comedians was a great show, shame its not on in this day and age..

Didnt know Manning was dead!! - He caused havock in Derby when he played one of our major hotels - A lot of the staff were black and refused to serve drinks etc to the punters who thought racist jokes were funny - He never came back, nobody in Derby would book him after that - The comedians was a pretty good show for the time without having any really outstanding comedians - I did like Mike Reid though, who I liked even more as an actor playing Frank Butcher.

Don't bet on it as some of the jokes are non-PC. I heard a rumour once that BBC thought of editing their old shows like 'Only Fools...' and that to remove jokes that are non-PC.
It is only a matter of time.
They did it recently on an episode of porridge taking out a gay reference.
So it's now started.
