It does sound a bit much.

When all this talk of 15,000 Brits turning up for the fight started I thought it was just hype, but who knows? I still say 5-6000 sounds more likely.

I don't live in Manchester or like Football so I can't comment on those factors and although Hatton is a popular fighter is he really as popular as the likes of Bruno & Benn etc? They didn't get those numbers when they fought in the USA.

Thats not all that many in football terms but its the cost of the flight, hotel and ticket to the fight that will stop a lot from going - If Ricky supported Man U, I think many more Manchester fans would make the trip - Mind Ricky has fans all over the country so it wont just be Manchurians flying over - Branson has lost out on TV rights because of Ricky dumping Sky but I expect he will do well from UK passengers on his Virgin planes.

Nearly everyone I know is flying BMI as they go direct from Manchester to Vegas.

I can't see more than 3000 making the trip, but the Fight Academy hype machine has gone into overdrive - yet again.

I would say there are more Man City fans in Manchester than what there are United fans.

United have a huge plastic following,only there for the glory,and these fans don't even go to watch their home games let alone travel abroad to see any sport!!!!

Manchester United got huge worldwide support following that terrible plane crash and they remain one of the best known teams in the world.

Quite a lot of united fans in manchester and outlying areas such as oldham etc remember they fill a stadium of 70,000 mainly with people from the area, in my experiance its probably about even in manchester much like liverpool and everton the difference is that manchester united also have a global following becasue they have traditionaly plaied exciting attacking football (I think George best was as important an Munich) that branding could bring in yanks who have heard of MUFC in maybe but roony being associated with him may do that too.

Watching the footage of the fight there looked to be a lot of brits there
