Hopkins wouldn't last a round, and hasn't done as much as Witter or Malignaggi to get a shot.

I'd take Malignaggi at The Garden in the Autumn, as suggested further up the thread. His star is in the ascendency, showed true grit against Cotto, would sell a shit load of tickets, holds a belt, and would present a recognised challenge, without being someone who would pose too many problems.

Perfect opponent, IMO.

Yer but I don’t want a perfect opponent to make Hatton look good, I want to see him in a competitive fight, he would walk right through Malignaggi who imo has no chance.
I would pick Hatton to beat Witter but dammit I’d still love to see it in Britain this autumn, it really could be a huge event here.
I remember Nigel Benn coming back with a few good wins and a WBO belt from America and giving a pretty much unproven Chris Eubanks a chance, what a fight that turned out to be (and Benn hated Eubank at that time and for many years after). Witter has pop and has earned his chance at 140 with Hatton as much or more as anyone else has, style wise the fight could really gel, classic aggressor v counter puncher stuff, with a real grudge thrown in, it has all the ingredients for a true British classic.

I only watched bits of it and was underwhelmed by my first sighting of D-Hopkins. But it looked fairly even, though I did keep falling asleep to 'save' myself for the Barrera-Marquez main event.

However, I don't think I;m the only person to think, "that experience may be the making of him."

Holt is a better choice than Hopkins. Just looked at his record - he not only beat Hlatshwayo and Arnaoutis, but also stopped David Diaz and if he beats Torres he's due a shot at something.

Re Witter - it isn't fair that he gets frozen out but sadly ppl don't really want to watch him, and opponents aren't bothered about fighting him. God knows what Harris is doing. But if he doesn't want to fight someone he'll be awkward or uncooperative. He's like that but shouldn't act that way as it's not like he's a major name or anything.

I have reservations about Kendall Holt. He stank against Arnotis. Holt atcs like every opponent has to come to him and just walk into the counters. His record looks impressive but he has mental lapses - for some reason he keeps sticking his tongue out at people and I think once he got knocked out for showing off. If he blows out Torres or wins a great fight things may be different.
