hatton can fight cotto or mayweather at 140ish

Post by boxerbob »

look as ive mentioned in my (hatton bashing crap) post...i think hatton can fight cotto and mayweather and stay at 140

eg: vs mayweather and cotto the match can be made at welter but that doesnt mean hatton has to come in at welter

he can come in around 140-143lbs and still not lose his speed or his power

remember ray leonard did it when he challenged for the light heavy title whilst holding the super middle title...leonard knew that he would lose to much due to the increased weight gain so he fought lighter and won.

also evander holyfield was the heavyweight of the 90s because he never bulked up to the 230s 240s...instead he did it at a comfy weight of between 210-220..yes the weight isnt the only reason ~(fighting ability) but............

both holy and sugar ray knew thier body......hatton should know his and he should give himself a better chance against 2 blown up welters in mayweather and cotto if he wants to beat them by coming in near to his natural weight

It's not his power he's worried about, it's his strength. And to adequately bully fighters at 147 he'd have to put on the appropriate body mass, even then he may be too small.

Yes, but Ray made Lalone come in lighter, too, knowing that Lalonde would have to kill himself to make 168.

Hatton will always be better at 140, but Mayweather will never step down there to fight him.

A fight at 147 is a strong possibility.

Yeah but Kerry Kayes won't let that happen unfortunately. He'll force Ricky to put on 7lbs of muscle again and make him lose his mobility and all-around quickness and fluidity by entering the ring at 160+ of bulk on already stumpy frame.

Hatton shouldn't need to do any hypertrophy training if he fights Mayweather at 'welter', hypertrophy is for bodybuilding - not boxing. Plus Mayweather isn't a strong welterweight or a real natural welterweight, Ricky shouldn't need to 'bulk up'. He should go through camp as he normally does only not take out the carbs in the last week.

Either way there is no Mayweather fight this year. Would HBO want to put Hatton in such a big test? Have HBO got a date for another Hatton fight? I would think they'd want to build his star in some winnable if interesting fights first.
