Whatever happened to Donovan Ruddock?

Post by mattyp151 »

I understand he sells a trash compactor...but I don't recall why he stopped fighting after ending his career on a 10ish fight win streak...

Hi Mr 151,

I am sure he is back in the ring soon actually, after some 5-years away.... I wish I could remember where I read it, but I am sure it was only a few weeks ago.

best wishes

I thought he had hep A, B, or C at some point. Not sure if that was a factor of him taking some time off though....

He lost every time he stepped up and now is around 44....that's why he stopped fighting.

Every time I think of him I remember the movie theater I worked at in Sunrise, Fl., as a teenager, and Ruddock coming in and paying for one movie and staying to see three or four. I guess that's how the rich stay rich...

His second-to-last fight (forgive me, I can't remember who it was with at the moment) was a very close split-decision and exhausting for him. He decided to call it a day after that, with one more fight for a finale.

Since then, well, you've see the rubbish disposal adds! Ruddock's head in a bin, how do you top that?

If you were a pimply teenager, would you pick a fight with a 240-pound monster with the biggest left hand in the business?
It was a joke, Zack. You remember those, don't you?

A joke? Boxing historians and or enthusiasts do not have time for trivial pursuits and tiddly winks when matters as grave as these are in the balance. I suggest quiet reflection followed by a sober review. Perhaps the purchase of one of these compactors would serve as atonement in this specific case.
