Dunno how many of the people in this forum are basketball fans, but I thought I'd give it an ask.

My hometown team, Houston Rockets, picked him up in the second round of the NBA draft.

Any of you know anything about him? He any good?

Yeah he's an Aussie.

As far as not caring about the sport as ben k said, I just thought I'd take a flyer just incase someone did know about him..... No harm no foul. Thanks :TU:

As he was picked up in the draft he was playing college ball in the states, and there isn't too many Australians that follow that. A few aussies might know about a few NBL players.

We'd never heard of Andrew Bogut until he got picked

Hey mate,

Brad has not been playing in america he has been playing in our national league with the Townsville Crocodiles. Every season he continues to improve, but I still after watching him play he leaves me with the feeling that he should be doing more and should be putting up better numbers.

However the kid is with out a doubt the best talent in this country and he is a scorer. I'd really like to hope he gets a game. Apparently the Rockets have been following his career closely for many years, so lets hope they give him a chance.

I would love to see more guys out of our national league given a chance.

Look out for a young guy named Joe Ingles, he'll be the next guy out of our national league to nominate for the draft in the comng years

Strengths

Solid shooter
Moves well off the ball
Decent vertical
Nice passer
Good intangibles (does a lot of little things well)

Weaknesses

Physically weak
Not overly quick for a guard
NBL competition isn't the athletic standard he would have played against in the NCAA

Brad's an interesting prospect, but one who I doubt will make much of an impact in the next few years. I believe the idea is to have him play summer league this season and have him play in Australia for the year and re-assess him next season.

He's been in the Australian league here for about 3 years and has impressed. If he can deal with the increased athletecism in the NBA, he will make a decent 7th or 8th man in the future. I doubt he'll ever crack a starting rotation but as ScottAaron said, he's improved every season he's been in the spotlight and he will hopefully continue to do so. All up, decent value for the 54th pick.

Joe Ingles will more than likely be the next NBL guy to declare for the draft, but Andrew Ogilvy will likely be the next Aussie drafted to the NBA. Apparently he really turned heads at a recent under age tournament and he may well be a first round pick in either of the next two seasons.
