who's that bloke?

Post by dandantheweatherman »

There's a boxer's name I can't for the life of me think of, and much to my shame I can't even remember his weight. I even looked at a list of boxers and this failed to jog my memory. Tragic really...I used to know who all the world champions were!

He's that Mexican chap who has loads of quick KOs, fights in Japan/S Korea a lot and I think is banned from fighting in the USA. I thought he was WBA featherweight champion, but he can't be because that's Chris John, so perhaps he's a lighter weight champion. Anyway, he won sometime between December and March by 1st round KO in Japan.

Cheers, Dan

Aye, that's him.

Cheers for that - that was going to wind me up all day. I thought he was a feather or lighter, but even if I'd gone higher still wouldn't have recognised the name.

There's a song in that. Maybe in the Noel Coward style

He's from Venezuela my dear, not from Mexico
He's a boxer dear, he doesn't work for Texaco

Yes, I'm sure there's money in it. Could do with some words that rhyme with Mexican though.

He entered a brothel and ordered 'Sex To Go'
As he was Commando and had no 'Kecks to Show'

One of the biggest problems I had remembering who this chap is was that I thought he was Mexican!!!

Good Alex Arthur song BTW...wonder if it'll catch on next month!

What would have been funnier is if Edwin Valero popped up on this thread and said 'it's me, I'm the bloke you're thinking of'. Obviously this would be rather unlikely, and if he did I wouldn't have believed him anyway!
