what if gregorio peralta had fought ali around 1967.In 1970 peralta gave foreman 10 strong fit filled rounds.he was 35 at this time and beginning his general physical decline.he was a slippery tricky awkwardly styled boxer who could also bang a bit.1967 was the year ali was given the 3 years away from boxing sentence.what if he hadnt been given this and fought peralta right after... "what's his face?"Forgot his name, but yeah,I think that it would've been a tremendous chess style deal.Ali would get the nod,but not at all easily.Peralta would give em plenty of fitfull moments throughout this chess match clash.I'd say ali by 15rd ud by scores of 145-143,144-142,145-144.
Boy, Ali gets no respect from some people. Ali fought tune ups who were about as good as Peralta. Foreman was young and rather inexperienced in his two fights with Peralta, and Foreman fights nothing like Ali. Saying that Ali struggles with Peralta because Foreman did is like saying that Ali would have an easy time with Frazier because Foreman did
I saw Peralta fight Thornton, Pastrano and Foreman but he was a light heavyweight who ocassionally fought heavyweights. Ali would have had weight, height , reach and probably speed, certainly power and Peralta would not have had a chance at all against him.
