is it to much to ask that someone can put together a decent fight card in this country?
god! this was accyually one of the worst cards i have evr watched, and i aint sayin that because i think he's a tool (i really like to watch him fight because he is ussauly in entertaining fights) but this main event was boring.
and as for the undercards.....theres only so many times you can watch these prospects beeing matched against phillipino taxi drivers fighting above their natural weight, while the commentators sit there saying "this guys come to fight make no mistake" or he's a tough fighter and should really test his opponent here"
bs.
my two cents anyway
step it up mundine you wanker......after beating Green and Soliman i really belived you when you said you only wanted the best

Absolutely amazing. Dunno if I should laugh or cry after reading that.walford wrote: I am more interested in the local scene than the world scene.
Gazzard is a good prospect, I admit he does have a bit to learn, but he goes alright.
Zappa is 19 and has been slowly stepping up the level of opposition since the Dulog fight (admitedly Steve Storic was useless and his next two scheduled opponents aren't flash, but again did I mention he is 19).
Lance Gostelow was awesome in stopping Gregnoco, Gregnoco has been in with the best fighters Australia has to offer and he has never been stopped like that, chalk the Mosquera loss up to experience and he was winning at the time.
Biffa, well I was impressed the other night, I was unimpressed last time I saw him against Paz Viejo, but he is a very awkward bloke. I don't know that he is a genuine world class prospect, but he'll be a very handy fighter
I agree that a lot of the fox shows are pretty poor and that Kazzi is very ordinary, but the rest of it was total crap
This relates to something I wrote a while back.thunderfromdownunder wrote:is it to much to ask that someone can put together a decent fight card in this country?

The promoters and apologist fans claim that they don't have enough money to fly in quality opponents and the Philippinos/Indonesian taxi drivers are all the can afford. If that is the case then WHY THE F**K are these guys ALWAYS obviously fighting above their natural weights? If there's any promoters or managers here I would like to know what excuse they can offer up. A Indonesian featherweight who can't fight to save his life will cost the exact same as an Indonesian bantamweight who can't fight to save his life.... so then why does the local feather fight a guy 2 classes smaller than himself? Its absolute bullshit.

At all levels, matchmaking is the cancer killing this sport. Go through the Australian and world rankings - there are heaps of good matchups that can be made, and literally tones of matchups on the world scale which would go a long way in bringing boxing back. Why is MMA gaining huge popularity while boxing dwindles? The matchmaking - their guys fight each other, ours dont. Pretty simple.
It is absolutely sickening to me that someone can come on here and be even remotely happy with that farce the Mundines called an undercard.
Someone shoulda been put in jail for some of those "contests"! you wouldnt treat a dog like that, yet they are doing it to humans.
I'd rather see a good fighter in a mismatch, then two horrible fighters in a boring points decision.Joe Corona wrote:I agree. We all know the answer tho.R_jay wrote:

The Gostelow fight should have been longer and wasn't a mis-match, the Withers v McCracken fight was one of the best fights I've seen in a while. Plus I got to see Zappa, Gazzard and Solo fight again and lets face it there are too few opportunities in this country to see that calibre of fighter on T.V. Yes their opponents were horrible, and Gazzard looked pretty ordinary, but it was a rare chance to see these guys fight, I would prefer to see that than have to sit through another Edgar Wymarra fight.
I would rather see 2 club boxers getting the ring and having ago than 3/4 of the BS undercards put on the main events in this countrywalford wrote:I'd rather see a good fighter in a mismatch, then two horrible fighters in a boring points decision.Joe Corona wrote:I agree. He looked ok. I don't think he was in the same shape as he was for the Soliman and Green fights. His six pack was a bit more like a gut this time around.steve689 wrote:How did Mundine look in the main event? I won't get this card on DVD for a week or so but i don't why his undercards are always so dire.
I'm not sure when he tore his bicep, but he did seem to coast a little and did what he had to to secure victory.
