Best finish to a boxing career?

Recently I can think of Lopez, Collins and Lewis of course.

Also love the fact that Hagler never came back, leaving the only memories of him as one hard mofo.

One decision loss to an all time great and going out with a W would normally qualify, but the way Hamed turned down the Barerra rematch and stunk against Calvo spoiled what went before.

Sometimes feel sorry for hamed for the grief he gets for the calvo fight. Granted, it wasnt the hamed of old, but he didnt lose a round, and comprehensivley beat calvo...

Bernard Hopkins would have been great had he stuck to it. Although the manner of his win vs Tarver left me anyway wanted to see more of him as a Light Heavy.

Had Marco retired after JM Marquez that would have been great aswell, cause it just showed he was a little past his prime - but for me showed there was no reason why he and JMM never got it on when they were both younger.

I love the guy, but can anyone see anything other than a violent pac man victory. For me Pac has improved since their first encounter, with Marco deteriorating... on the other hand it wouldnt shock the pants off me to see marco surprise the world and outbox pac like JMM did... only problem is the mexican will comeout in marco sooner or later during the fight.

James Braddock I'd have thought....win the world title, get a good deal for defending against Joe Louis (I think part of the deal was that Braddock got 10% of all Louis' future purses) then have one last fight (to go out on a win) against a recognised name (Tommy Farr - W10).

Ricardo Lopez, beat all of them in his weight division, knew when to get out at the right time.

Also i thought that Heriol Graham had a good finish, after the Frank Grant defeat it looked all over for him, but he came back won 4 good fights , and came within a whisker of winning the world title in his last fight.
I've still never seen the Brewer contest.

For me it has to be lewis, took on the only credible challager on two weeks notice in a bit of a war figures the guy out and leaves him looking like he has been in a car crash.

Gene Tunney went out on top.

Johnny Nelson almost went out on top, if he had defeated Macca in his last fight it would have been the perfect send off for him.

Was going to bring up Carl Thompson - signature victories against Rothmann and Haye, but then remembered the Serrat fight - where he looked horrible and received a decision by a points margin he really should have lost by. Though it says something I remembered those other two first!

In fairness Ottke's carrer was deeply discredeted by people who saw some dogey fights he was in particularly the reid one where the reff was warning him for hitting him

Hopefully Audley Harrison's was the best I can recall!

On a serious note Lennox Lewis defeating the best that arguably 2 generations beneath him (in Vitali) had to offer was a great way to sign out.

It was a shame Ray Leonard came back to take on Norris and then Camacho....

One that will always hurt is how Pryor lost to Bobby Joe Young, he deserved to retire undefeated and would have had it not been for drugs...
