Good fight for Kali, Fields has a good record and Kali should stop him inside of 6 rounds. Then again Kali hasnt fought in some time will be interesting to see what he has left and also what Fields can bring to the table.

Tye has a weak jab. Seriously its a joke. However his punch output is staggering. He put forth 852 punches in a 10 round fight. However he only landed 196. He has been built on broken former champs and nobodies. Shoot he got KO'ed by a nobody who had 2-0 fights when he had 17-0 and though he avenged it, it is pathetic. Still since his loss to Rahman and Brewster Meehan hasn't been the same. Still this is all just rumor though not completely b.s. Just a strong chance its happening.

For some reason I just don't feel a strong allegiance to Kali. I remember seeing an article in a paper before his fight with Brewster that said if he won he would be an Australian World Champion and if he lost he would be a garbo from New Zealand...

 Not sure that has anything to do with this but I thought it was funny

Its a bit sad though having to rely on NZ talent to bolster your flagging stocks!

Not only in boxing but rugby and league to!

Another alleged fight that did not happen.

By the way, Meehan was born in Fiji.

Has Meehan decided to retire? His last fight was in October last year. He is getting on for a boxer.

He is just saying that he didn't capitalise on his good showing against Brewster i.e. he never got the big money big exposure fight one might have expected after such a good performance just like McBride never capitalising on his win over Iron Mike.

Mind you I hear Cliff is willing to fight McBride so maybe there is time yet

Going into the fight against Rahman with a back injury probably did not help his cause.

Probably not, even though I don't think Rahman was ever all that good Kali really did get pumped, injured or not it was pretty bad ...

Rahman is a strange fighter. He took Lennox Lewis's title off him, but later could only draw with James Toney.

...and don't give me any bull about Rahman beating Lewis with a "Lucky Punch". I saw that fight and Rahman was all over Lewis in the fourth before taking him out in the fifth. Maybe Lennox underestimated him. He sure as hell took no chances in the return match  .

I never said he didn't beat Lewis I just said I didn't think he was all that good.

Lennox was sparked a couple of times.

Lennox did have a bad habit of getting lazy and arrogant towards opponents, but it still takes a good fighter to beat a World Champion.

Kali has always been an enigma....he was blasted out by Danny Williams (it happens).... then he had the war with Brewster (who punches like a demon).... but against Rahman (injury excuses not withstanding) he just looked hollow boned.

having said that the most interesting result on his record (altho i havnt seen it) is his Ko of the normally tanklike Peter okhello (getting off the floor to do so

Yeah. Have you seen Kali fight since the Rahman fight? That overhand right to the temple seems to get the job done. I do not know the story on the Brewster fight. Meehan broke Brewster's jaw in the eigth round, and from some reports two judges were the only people outside of Brewster's corner who thought Brewster won.

Strange.

I see that Kali Meehan is fighting Da Varryl Williamson on the Peter/McCline bill at Madison Square Garden on 6 October.

Hot damn! This should separate the sheep from the goats.

Good luck, Checkmate.

im so excited bout kali havng a crack at this bloke.. even if he doesnt have it in him anymore to go for a world title then he could still leave a decent imprint on the scene and get a few paydays by smashing out some contenders.. BTW how would he have survived financially with his massive lapse of activity?

Doing his usual jobs of driving a garbage truck and throwing drunks out of pubs, I suppose. Kali never made big purses from boxing. He has three third round KO wins from his last three fights, usually with an overhand right to the temple. Let's hope he can make it four in a row. :box:
