I must admit to fearing the worst (i.e. retirement) after the long silence, so I'm glad to hear that he's been back in training for a few months and has lost NONE of his desire.

Audley still has a few tricks left up his sleeve IMO, I hope he can keep active after the September bout.

Think he should pack it in and to be fair to Danny he said soon after the Gammer fight that he didn't want non title fights and always said he would reject Harrison or Sprott as they don't have any belts - and would only fight Skelton for the Commonwealth belt.

Sorry, what I meant is that he said he wanted to WIN titles as opposed to just make title defences. He saw the Commonwealth belt in addition to his British belt as a way of climbing up the EBU rankings.

Oliver - I agree, although I think Danny only wants to fight for big titles. The heart is not in it anymore and to be honest I think thats the last time we'll see him in the ring.

Floyd Mayweather will rather stay "retired" than fight say a Yory Boy Campus in a defence of his title..... Thats kind of how I percieve Danny's state of mind - big titles (or geniune stepping stones to big titles) or not boxing.

That's funny because the difference between PBF and Williams is that Danny is saying in effect he would rather get his head punched in (which he does when he steps up a level) than make money in very winnable domestic contests!

Hurruh! The enigma machine is back on track.

Can't even think what country he'd fight in. His UK options seem non-existant with Sprott, Skelton and Williams out of the picture. Would Gammer take it? Would Frank host it, and put the winner in with Skelton or Sprott (just in case they don't get a world title shot.)

Or the US. Couple of big cards in September. May do worse than getting a fight with one of the 'starlets' over there - Witherspoon, Scott,. Chambers - I'm sure one of them would take the chance of beating an Olympic champion.

The Aud is finished before he ever got started. His career was one big smoke and mirrors job. British title in 5 fights?!?!

Harrison may beat a couple of no marks but the public will only now pay to watch him get sparked, which will happen as soon as he faces anyone who represents a genuine threat.

He's really, REALLY serious this time. No joke. He's read Nelson Mandela's book and that will be the difference this time.

interestingly this contradicts what his trainer has been saying. Thell Torrance says that he had a fight on Juy 14 but dropped out to give for Jirov's sake. So i guess it's fair to say that his desire isn't boundless.

(sorry I hate that greeting, it's even more naff comming from a man in his mid 30's).

I really can't see where there is for Harrison to go, even into todays less than formidable Heavyweight division. He may get past a few jpourneymen and former fringe contenders etc but after that he will just get beatem again, why? because that is what has always happened to him in the past. He is too long in the tooth now to re-invent himself.

Also comparing yourself (if only in passing) to Nelson Mandela is not going to impress people either. regardless of your opinions on Mandela's politics, trying to imply that you (Harrison a millionaire) have been oppressed and made simular personel sacrifices to what Mandela made is only going to add weight to some peoples views that Harrisons ego is bigger that his fighting heart.

I wish the guy luck, but I don't see a bright future for Harrison, Boxing wise.

Even if half will be waiting for him to get KO'd.

I didn't read it as him comparing himself from Nelson Mandela, more like taking inspiration from him.
