Setanta - any more boxing or not?
Setanta - any more boxing or not?
So Setanta have a 6-fight deal with Hobson, not Hatton...Anyone going to pay £15 a month to see Clinton fight a retread opponent (Johnson or Gonzalez or maybe Delisle) once a year?
They had a great June - two live cards worth staying up for. But there appears to be nothing on in the next two weeks. Surely there are ppl who got Setantan just for the boxing. So the Q is, what are we getting next, how often are we getting fights, and is it worth keeping if you dn't like gold or football?

I don't wish to sound like a Setanta sympathiser, but when I signed up for the Haton fight it was part of a deal whereby I paid one months subs (£10) and got 2 months free. They did this specifically to entice people to stick with them for a while, without having to pay and then decide in the middle of August (after a couple of Prem games).
I'm sure if you cancel now, you will not be entitled to your free 2 months later and could therefore miss out on any fights that do get arranged.
Consumer rights protect customers from being forced into a contract they do not wish to be part of, so you can demand to cancel at any time.

This was the main reason I didn't sign up to Setanta - What does the future hold for boxing there?
Not a lot by the looks of it.
Glad I didn't sign up - I would have only saved a tenner and then been lumbered with a shitty channel with nothing on it that I want to watch for the next two months.
Let alone looking to catch the cancellation at the right time.

Sometimes they put notes on the Sky+ info telling you something will be deleted after a set period of time but they didn't with this, I was showing the fight to someone just this morning.chief wrote:i bought the latest Hatton fight and recoreded it on Sky+.. I think you need to ask questions in your household because somebody wanted to record something else and noticed your 5+ hour broadcast of the Hatton fight/event taking up 15% of your Sky + hard disc and thought 'I'll delete that so I can fit Eastenders omnibus on'!

the thing is, if you want Hatton, you can always Sky Box Office it - unless he ends up on ITV and with prospective Mayweather level fights in the early hrs of the morning, which severely cuts vieiwng figures. Then again, maybe they'd stay up for Hatton. I mean ITV kicked things off by making a docu on why nobody's heard of Calzaghe...

Yeah, but you're the one worrying about what to do, not me - All these types of subsriptions work on folk not cancelling at the right time, then being lumbered for 12 months.Chambers2 wrote:

Then again, if SN network end up on there: Result :)

That's got to be one of the worst, most pointless ads ever.
As if an Ad featuring some drunked old jock with a guitar embarrassing some bloke in a boozer is going to put anyone off. My mate earns about 150k a year, but he still buys all his DVD's off the chinese people who come around the boozers.
I'd have taken that guitar and shoved it up his arse, although knowing my recent luck, he'd have probably turned out to be a retired Royal Marine Commando, who would have proceeded to kill me in three moves
Thing is, I will bet my right arm, that the people who are behind these piracy operations are right nasty bastards, it's probably the triads.

Totally agree about that ridiculous anti-pirating advert. I immediately went out and bought half a dozen dodgy DVD's
can't understand buying pirate DVD films myself. the DVD market is so saturated. big stores like HMV buying and selling at discount prices. just go on amazon.co.uk's marketplace sellers -all competing with each other and selling many a (relatively) recent release for peanuts. and you get well off tight arsed dicks buying pirate DVDs just so they can look like bad boys and tell their mates "I'm connected." also, if you have a multi region player, you can buy foreign region films on your own steam.
ok, if you want new films, fair enough, but quite often they're shit quality copies. the whole point of DVD is for quality, proper aspect ratios, recreating the cinema experience as closely as you can...Chinese DVDs always seem to be coated in a sheen of murk with overbright colors.

Sign up to amazon's DVD rental scheme, think you can get 6 a month for 3.99 at the moment.
Get hold of FabDVD decrypter (free download).
Hey presto, copy DVD's to your hard drive in 1-1 ration, so perfect top notch quality....then either burn to DVD (will have to shrink a bit or buy some 9gb DVD's), and play to your heart's content.
I don't buy those snide DVD's any more, the quality is generally piss poor, and the sound is often almost unintelligible.
yeah, and don corleone is coming to get you!!jamesmcdonnell wrote:That's got to be one of the worst, most pointless ads ever.

if you are going to fork out, get the real thing. if you wrote an article, and some shit head came in and put his name on it, claimed it as his and left you with your finger up your tea towel rack, you would not be best pleased.
pirate dvds and illegal posting of videos on the net is the work of scum bag thieves.
