Booth v Napa

Is it just me or is anyone as baffled as to how Napa is favourite with some bookies in this fight. I realise Booth hasn't been that active and has had personal problems i.e. his brother and some others, but he beat Napa pretty clearly a few years back at flyweight. I realise Napa has improved a tiny bit but to have him favourite really has got me scratching his head.

i agree the way i look at it if the bookies want to lose money then ill gladly take it of them i think it's worth a £10

Good fight, no classic but a real enthusiast's fight. Worthy winner.

Booth will comeback again.

A little surprised to hear Maloney suggest it will be Power next for Napa - I thought Maloney would have been a bit pissed off with him for the pull out. What about Booth vs Napa 3.

Napa v Power good fight, Napa won last time imo. Then winner fight Booth again or Haskins. Thomson fight was good.

Maybe Edwards / Robinson will be in the equation also. Was there hints from Adam Smith of a Damean Kelly comeback?

Maladrottu has a world title shot lined up, so maybe the EBU title could become available and winnable for Napa.

I know that, but then Napa intended to move back down also. Edwards and Dale could move up and challenge.

In some ways its a shame Napa won, cause he should fight at Flyweight.

i enjoyed the scrap, i love napas style, just wish he could bang a bit but he seems to be improving his power...

Booth had the higher workrate and only landed In quantity while Napa landed In quality and he has a James Toney like shoulder roll.

Did he mention that in his post fight interview? he said after the fight off camera that he'd been modelling his style on Toney / Mayweather after watching loads of footage of them.

not that i know of, but ive admired napas shoulder rolling technique for a while now, its also reminiscent of adrian stone, he had the same 'american' style too. good to see it in the british game though. strangely napa has won a title at a weight he is 'soft' at, he really is a flyweight !!!

Yeah chuffed for Napa he finally got a close decision he deserves it but hopefully booth will carry on as well looks like he's still got planty to offer. On a side note congrats to Craig Watson on an excellent performance - he did everything but stop the undefeated lomax - thats the second time in a row he's won a fight where he was probably an underdog.

I didn't see the fight but tentatively backed Napa beforehand to exact revenge, It's about time his luck changed. He has some tough fights and debatable decisions mixed in since he returned. Maybe he can get his revenge against Power now in a rematch, Power is no great shakes IMO.

he's got talent.

he just can't punch to save his life though.

Deserved win, he impressed me throughout...

Though fight of night was Thompson v Vuma, Mark put up a hell of a fight.....

I wouldnt say Napa has 'pathetic power' ok he hasnt stopped anyone but he put Costello on the deck & badly rocked Power and Booth, sometimes it takes more than power, you need a finishing instinct, once he does score his first stoppage maybe his confidance instinct will grow. On another note what an inspiration this man is! He believed in himself and kept persisting to one day becoming champion after all his setbacks. What a wonderful example this man can be to anyone in any walk of life who is just missing out, persistance & belief is the key & realising that failure always isnt bad, it shouldnt discourage you, you've just shown thats not the way to do it so next time you can try another way.

Yes, I know what you said, but do you know what I said?. He hasnt stopped anyone but that does not mean he has no power, maybe he hasnt developed the finishing instinct or confidence. Like I side, you need more than power to stop someone the majority of the time.

Delighted for Napa. Years of taking tough fights have finally paid off for him. Decent fight and well chuffed for Napa but it seemed to me he could have really sparkled against Booth this time but held back somewhat. I suppose he knew what he was doing though.

As for Napa's power, clearly he's not a "banger" by any stretch of the imagination, but if his power is "pathetic" most of the top guys he's faced would just walk right through him but that has very rarely happened. As Des1 quite rightly points out he's stung a few of his opponents, so there must be a little bit of "pop" in his shots.

Again this victory re-iterates just how good an unappreciated Damon Kelly was, who toyed with Napa when they met. The only fighter to outclass Napa... Napa was far more competitive vs Maladrottu.

I don't know how the ref only had that to Kelly by 3 points , Kelly put on a masterclass that night as he did in his first fight with Maludrottu .
Kelly very unppreciated , there are guys with half the talent of him who have been a 'world' champion multiple times or in different weights .
The lack of a Super Flyweight division in Europe really did hurt him too .

Well done to Napa btw , I missed the fight as I was at a music festival but the guy is far better than his record suggests and has been unlucky with quite a few decisions in his career . Very talented guy who much like Kelly wasn't helped by the lack of a division(Light Flyweight) domestically and in Europe .

Anyone know the EBU rankings. Maladrottu is fighting for the WBC title, so may have to vacate. Perhaps one of Kelly, Napa, Power, Booth etc - might be highly ranked in Europe. Maybe a fight for the Vacant EBU title could happen.
