It seems there are 2 different Joes. One who is all business and delivers in the good matchups. Another who turns up to do the job in less than accomplished fashion against unworthies he shouldn't be facing.
He's had the long reign and the steady paydays. Now it's time to cash in and cement his mark.
I wonder how this Showtime thing will pan out? They're trying to get Calzaghe, Kessler and Dawson together.
I believe Calzaghe-Kessler is going to happen - nearly done by all reports and it seems Showtime have a window for it even if HBO don't - but I feel that Joe would be looking for a fight with Pavlik, provided the latter beats Taylor in September.

I think we should exercise caution before getting too excited, as the article states that it's not signed off yet. Also, the quote from Allegedly towards the end ("If the fight comes off I'll be so pleased for Joe...") doesn't inspire confidence. There's also the other story going around that Showtime want Joe v Chad Dawson first and then Kessler next year. We shall see.
wait till Pavlik throttles Taylor. Kelly can't make 160 after this year and Joe can tempt him into a world title fight. Would be an irresistable fight. Joe's speed and experience/pressure vs Kelly's size, fundamentals and power.
Also, Inkin and Froch floating around, plenty of good fights if Kessler doesn't materialise. We just need to see them. Joe should want to buckle down after Hatton excelled t'other week.

Yeah, the Millenium is perfect for that.Chambers2 wrote:They'll close the roof...... and stick the heating onGoz wrote:Won't the Millenium Stadium in November be a bit cold for a 4/5 hour boxing promotion?
But wasn't Bruno against Lewis in the open air in October or November? I'm sure I remember Lewis sitting in the corner with a blanket over him.
where do you get your info from? you always seem to have all these facts but it seems to be complete BS most of the time. back up your statements if you have something to say.Autobarn wrote:Let's clarify. The reason Palle couldn't make it in Denmark was because he expected US TV to shell out. They won't. That's put the ball in Warren's court to have it in the UK. Warren feels the Millennium Stadium are asking for too much money to stage the fight...
Date for US tv is done, kessler fee agreed, venue done, palle has agreed to come over. facts barny boy, facts.
seriously, where do you dream up your stories?
this is a forum. where we talk boxing and give our opinions. where we give our opinions on apparent facts. try not to confuse opinion and fact for starters. if you can try and understand these fundamental differences then good for you.101boxing wrote:where do you get your info from? you always seem to have all these facts but it seems to be complete BS most of the time. back up your statements if you have something to say.Autobarn wrote:Let's clarify. so you're saying the date for US TV is agreed after all we've been hearing the past week is HBO not having a slot and Showtime insisting on Dawson this year and Kessler next year.
Right.
The fight is on but Warren - in his last column - says there are " a few loose ends to tie up." How many times has this fight been on already with things to "finalise"?
Do you read the papers? If you had, you would see the Millennium Stadium is an issue. If you think I'm going to post hyperlinks for you you're either a lazy git or a silly fvckwit.
I'm not believing it till I see it. Look how long it took for the Lacy fight to happen.

Call me a cynic if you like, but I won't believe it till they touch gloves.
Even then Joe's brittle hands might shatter on impact.
I think it bodes well to be honest, and I DO think this will happen, but one of the incudements for Palle to come here it the promise no doubt of a FAT cut of the gate receipts, which are obviously projected to be pretty high.
If the millenium stadium cannot be collared, there could be some problems ahead. How many does Cardiff Castle hold, surely nowhere near that much.

JC will not fight Kessler, ever. But due to various problems with health of hands, Kessler being a greedy bastard, etc., etc., it will be highly likely that the mega-fight will happen sometime in late 2008.
In the meantime, there will be fights here in the western hemisphere, Lacy v. Manfredo v. Green v. Bute, etc. JC will fight some body in the meantime, and the fans will shell out big money for the pleasure of watching, whoever. Mundine will beat up the Tasmanian champ and making big bucks while he does. JC laughs and says Mundine has to earn his shot at the title.
Now, here's the kicker. JC will claim that he has to fight in the US to cement his legacy. And the one standing after all the dust settles is.......... Peter Manfredo, Jr.
This "rematch" will take place sometime in mid-2008, before the mega-showdown with Kessler. Joe will say "what can I do, I have to fight in the US, and Manfredo is the only one left", or something to that effect. And, "Kessler is a greedy bastard, I'd beat him up but he wants too much".
A pirate walks into a bar with a steering wheel protruding from his arse. The bartender says " is that a steering wheel coming out of your arse?" The pirate replies "Aye, and its drivin me nuts".
Thats boxing for you, its drivin me nuts.

I think it'll happen - it probably would be on by now if HBO committed to it. Apparently, there could be a space for it this year if Wlad doesn't fight again in 2007.
I don't think there's any proof of Kessler being a greedy bastard. Both camps have a lot to lose to negotiations weren't going to be straighforward.
