United States v England
Re: England vs USA
Roy Jones never boxed against England as an American international. He did, however, meet and beat Britain's Richie Woodhall in the 1988 Olympic semi-finals, flooring and outpointing Richie.

If you would have asked me, I would have said no he didn't floor him. For me, (although I was young at the time) Woodhall gave Jones his hardest fight in the Olympics.
Incidently, it was a few years ago and on a Robin Reid/BBC show and Robin did a segment on the pads with Richie. They said that they had a history and represented England together on many occasions. Their around the same age, so did they ever meet in the amateurs. If so, who won the most contests.
Anybody know?

"I swear he floored Richie with a long left hook that caught Richie moving back and put him down by the ropes."
If we're talking about their 1988 Olympic clash, which I know we are then I'm prepared to bet on it. If you are right, then the mods can ban me from this site for a bit. Roy stunned him with what looked to us like a looping overhand right and the ref called it a slap. That's the only thing that happened really in that fight.
