if hatton vs mayweather cant be made....

Post by boxerbob »

for hattons next fight

how about for hattons homecoming in the autum vs demetrios hopkins?????

hes a contender , undefeated and has fought on hbo , so the fight should be easy to make.

also i think the ibf champ should be left for the garden as it would be a better fight financially there

Yeah, makes sense. It seems Casamayor's desperate for a big fight as he's been calling out all-comers just lately. Casamayor's a cutie with a fantastic chin and good ring-smarts, but he'll get completely steam-rollered by Hatton.

I suspect it could be just the kind of fight they'd look for if Mayweather doesn't come off.

I really don't know why Juan Diaz hasn't been mentioned. It's easily promotable in the US given the style match-up, the mexican connection, 2 undefeated champions etc, etc.

Perhaps the Diaz people don't want it and want to take Baby Bull on a little slower to increase the final pay-off?

Anyway, it won't be Cotto, who is fighting the winner of Margarito - Williams, and it won't be Witter, so if it's not Mayweather, I see a Casamayor-type figure.

It all depends on who Hatton signs for next time out.

I certainly hope this fight doesn't get made, it would be yet another fighter who is ringworn and moving up in weight.

Casamayor is a crafty old dog, but he has become easier to hit and slower of foot these days, and he would get absolutely battered by Hatton, I doubt he would make it past the 6th and it would look like a physical mismatch.

If not Mayweather and if Cottos busy and this is going to sound repitive but it should be the Witter/Harris winner.

As far as the rest:

Delahoya - good fight but far too big, couldn't blame anyone for taking the cash

Mosley - great fight but won't happen as its too big a risk

Magillagi - very good BUT feather fisted to the extreme and Cotto left overs

Cassamaya - 35/36 and a blown up super-feather

Juan Diaz - good fight, I don't think he poses much of a threat tbh

DHOPs - lost against Forbes

Mbaiye - Warren fighter - enough said

Holt/Torres winner - Holt looks like a good prospect if he wins, Torres does not

Yup, all the ring craft in the world can't help you when you'd be as physically out matched as Casamayor would be.

It wouldn't be nice to watch, but given the noises coming from Casamayor, where he seems to be calling out every big name south of 160 since beating Corrales, I sense he's desperate for a big fight to secure his finances.

I would hate to see it happen, but I think that his big name, and his status as a title holder with the likes of Corrales, three times, Castillo and Freitas on his record makes him very saleable.

Also his toughness, chin and craft would probably see him far enough into the fight to A -- not make it seem like a Gunn style mis-match and blow out, and B -- to showcase Hatton's brutal style.

A horrible thought, and let's hope the lads at HBO see through it.

Agreed for the main part but Casamayor isn't going to stand in from of Hatton like Castillo did and has given Castillo and COrrales a world of trouble in their bouts. Casa may even have an outside chance of pulling off a win, he certainly would be the most skilled boxer Hattons faced. In his prime was an amazing boxer, so tricky, skillfull, fast, hard to hit clean. I'd agree at 36 at 140 hes probably going to blown out the water

Its a shame Casa never got fair treatment by the establishment. Hes been robbed so many times (some have him as unbeaten), never got the biggest fights. Mayweather-Casa at 135 or 130 would have been a great contest

But he get's hit far more these days and is less mobile than he used to be. Besides, even with his ring craft, and underrated tactical accumen, he'd still be so physically outmatched that it wouldn't matter.

This is probably all true, but maybe Casa has 1 last great performance, although at 140 it seems very unlikely

Witter for me. Just so we can put the bloody thing to bed! And you have to admit, Junior, when in the mood, can give anyone fits.

Plus, Ricky would want to smash him up.

Great fight!

Hatton is far too quick though, Casamayor would be in reverse the whole fight, no way is Casa nimble enough to keep Hatton off him all night, and as soon as Ricky closed the gap, Casmayor would get absolutely mauled.

The Casa from 2003 would be a very difficult proposition and would make it a very close fight. Casa has declined since then. The 2007 Casa is probably looking for 1 last payday
