Hopefully the general public get to see Proper fighters fighting for Proper titles in Hatton and Froch (and fighters who actually have personalities).

Not ness.

Hatton, Froch, Witter, Woods, Murray, proper fighters doing it the right way. Eastman has potential as a TV personality, Hatton-Witter has potential as a domestic super-fight, Froch has potential to become the face of British Boxing, Clinton is very likeable, Murray has potential. Hennessy has links with Golden Boy, we could see Stateside fights?

Agree with the view that is it a massive nail in the coffin of boxing. The sport needs terrestial TV.

I hope Setanta do the Warren bills on PPV, because there is no way I can afford a regular payment.

That's how it is in America with Showtime and HBO. i.e. you want to watch fights, you fork out. We can't just rely on Sky to provide everything. It's almost too much to ask of them to show regular live US fights. I don't see them actually getting in and helping MAKE A FIGHT HAPPEN. Setanta clearly want to be the #1 outlet for boxing. Props to them.

These are only 6 fight deals anyway. Sky, ITV, the Beeb -there's nothing stopping them doing something in the middle of 2008 is there?

Let's face it. Ppl just want everything for free. Boxing - big time boxing - has already been a PPV/cable/satellite thing, i.e. Tyson, Lewis, Holyfield, & more recently Hatton. How can anyone be so surprised?

Setanta must be very short sighted

... seems their making a big deal about Calzaghe, but who`s to say he`ll be anything after their first fight with them..

I for one feel Kessler will be too solid for Calzaghe...and if he does lose he`ll lose his comfort zone he`s had all these years...so he`ll probably retire.

And who does SN have then to carry the torch??...`Trash` Khan

People are fed up with his mis-matches already :x

I think people who are saying boxing will be dead just because fights are going on Setanta or Sky or whatever satelite channel are really barking up the wrong tree and being overly alarmist. A lot of people are going on about cage fighting or UFC whatever it is called, you don't see that on terrestrial tv do you?

Don't get me wrong, boxing has a viable challenger now and it and its various promoters need to get the right fights on and even more importantly actually promote those fights correctly through the various media outlets, they are going to have to part with their wads of cash and spend a fair bit on the advertising so the general public know exactly what and where various high profile boxing events are on.

Boxing needs this wake up call, if people are prepared to change on how the sport is promoted and advertised then I see no problems, if however they take things for granted and feel there is no need for change it is those promoters who will screw up.

You can see Amir on ITV this Saturday, and there is a presser today at which something is being announced with ITV, so with any luck some of the fights will be on ITV, and others on Setanta.

It keeps it interesting, and I think ITV will also pick up other fighters as well.......there are rumours of Hatton.

This sucks; there's no way I'm going to buy ANOTHER subscription. I pay over the odds for my boxing anyway because I get Sky Sports ONLY for boxing; I don't follow any other sports. I just about justify £35 a month for SS but no way I'm upping it to £50 to get Setanta as well.

Calzaghe-Kessler on PPV is fair enough, don't mind one-off payments for stuff like that, but forget getting another subscription. Warren has the names, yes, but his track record shows a traditionally lesser quality product than that which you get on Sky. Give me Napa-Booth over Maccarinelli-Gunn, definately.

I'm curious to know whats going to be in the ITV presser, hopefully they're not going to sign an exclusive contract with anyone, so we'll get the likes of Haye, Froch, Witter, Murray etc

SN moving to Setanta is a pain in the arse for boxing fans, setanta had better be carrying out some quality control, because I won't pay out another £15 a month to watch some of the shite FW has served us up in recent times. In fact it doesn't look like there is any more boxing on Setanta til this November bill, so I think I'll cancel my package and rejoin for Calzaghe-Kessler.

I'd be interested to know Setantas subscription figures, because I can't see them being particularly high.

It is an annoyance, that I am also shelling out 50 quid a month just to watch boxing.

If Warren has got ITV too, then I would guess the big fights (PPV events etc.) would be on Setanta, and then ITV for the more 'regular' shows.

I would not be at all surprised to hear that Warren is working with the Hattons to bring the Mayweather fight together any day now.

Yes, noticing the "scheduled" dates for Hatton vs Mayweather and Calzaghe vs Kessler... cannot help but think why are they so close together. Setanta offering some promotional deal?

What I think is that Warren will showcase only Khan bills on ITV, after Maccarinelli vs Braithwaite. Apparently Setanta's first SN card will be Simpson vs Morris 3.... hardly a big bill. Khan isn't mentioned on the SN press release and ITV are calling Saturday's bill as "Amir Khan - Big fight live".

This is fvckin crap. Boxing fans having to shell out yet again.......sky package, Sky PPV for live transmissions / early recordings of big fights, now Setanta.
It is a nail in British boxings coffin, even some of the hardcore on here wont pay again for Setanta, so no chance of casual fans and new viewers watching the big fights now. If the fights had been on ITV then boxing could have become more popular, wasted opportunity

I would appreciate if Boxingchat does know something about the TV deal, then he says what he can. Although, I appreciate he might not be allowed to say ALL he knows (or he might not know anything). Just some questions I would like answering.

1) Will Setanta be offering a PPV option for Sports Network shows, if so how many (e.g. will Morris vs Simpson 3 be available on box office).

2) What does this mean of Dennis Hobson's "deal" with Setanta... Has Warren got an "exclusive" deal?

3) Are ITV showing any interest in airing fights from abroad or from other promoters? Can they now air fights from abroad/other promoters.

4) What "type" of fights will be on ITV (from SN) and what will be on Setanta.
