Bob Foster Vs Michael Spinks

Post by Ross »

Saw Bob on FridayNight Fights and he looked great, never realised that Bob wanted to fight Spinks when he was in his late 40s, I thought Bob was older.
I think Spinks was a great Champion and was never beat by a light heavy, Bob was also great and in my mind still made the most title defences.
In their primes who would win ?

Bob always said that Spinks kept his head up and he would connect easily, IMO Bob would have beat Spinks maybe even stopping him.

What do you think ?

Foster would have been kayoed by Spinks if he had returned to fight him in his 40s.
Peak for peak, I'm not sure, Spinks on points maybe?

I'll go along with that, was thinking much the same thing Mr Decagon. :TU:

Foster was a beast of a fighter but he was dropped and hurt by far lesser punchers than Spinks.

I pick Spinks on points, maybe with Foster badly hurt or dropped along the way.

Foster vs Leon Spinks at 195lbs anyone? :D

Obviously this would be a great matchup. Spinks probably had a better chin than anyone Foster ever fought at LHW, but Foster had greater one punch knockout power than anyone Spinks fought at LHW. In a war of attrition Spinks wins by decision and probably scores a knockdown late. On the other hand though, Spinks could be outboxed and despite their equal heights, Foster was much better at keeping his opponents on the outside. If he stays within his fight plan and refuses to fight in the trenches, Foster's jab and big right win a clear decision.

Spinks didn't have a heavyweight punch, but he was very powerful.Either two scenarios happen.Spinks wins on a close decision, or Spinks stops Foster late.
