Anthony Smalls ring music!

Post by el_grande_mauro_mina »

We all have our views on the Bush invasion of Iraq and Anthony Small can comeback from his stoppage by Bradley Pryce (Good call by Howard Foster, Small was on his way to getting KO'ed)

Keep your silly 'Sugar Ray-Clay-Jones Jr' nickname, keep your mouth almighty persona but change your ring music.

How the hell Smalls ring enterance music got the nod is beyond me. When we have British lads dying in Iraq, the last thing I want to hear is music from the iraqi insurgent videos blowing British troops up.

Somebody from Small's managment sort it out!

Problem is Smalls management will not sort it out. Spencer Fearon is his manager and trainer and I am told has the same beliefs if not stronger.

It appears to me that Small wants to be the bad man of the sport and on the receiving end of boos only to reveal that he is a lovable harmless character.

The more I think about it the more I think it was completely disgraceful. We will get the doo gooders who will say he can play what he likes, Small has changed big time and I feel it was a big mistake of his to leave Adam Booth, if I am wrong I really do not think Spencer Fearon is the right man.

Well he is entitled to come out to the music he likes and he is entitled to to put on the performance he likes. But we too are entitled to smile when someone's agenda and ability, at any given moment, is way beyond their capability to deliver. I think he may have been found out on both counts tonight.

He has ability but maybe he has distracted himself by the acquired politico/religious bollocks that was never a consideration as to why he wanted to become a pro boxer in the first place.

Sorry, I must have missed something here, but can someone inform me on what the 'Arabic' music was and why Small chose it?

What was the political/religious reason behing it? If their was one.

It sounded like some sort of Islamic chanting (there was no music just a voice). Small is a muslim.

All i recognised was Allah U Akbar. Carlos seems to know more about the origin than the rest of us. I've got no idea where it was from but it sounded similar to Islamic call to prayer.

But it may have been peacefull Islamic chanting? This needs to be clarified before we judge Small I think.

Everyone has a right to have and choose their own religion etc etc etc but regardless of whether the chanting coming into the ring was peaceful or not what place does this chanting or whatever it is call have to do with boxing?

Small is not the sharpest tool in the box and he has been influenced by a fanatical convert who in turn converted him with one sided propaganda and pamphlets.

This individual has almost been banned from the gym for preaching and trying to convert vulnerable youngsters.

Small has taken to wearing full muslim robes and headgear and has been heard to express some very intolerant beliefs as well as going to some very questionable 'meetings'.

He is also a total bully in the gym, bashing the sh1t out of guys who've not even had an amateur fight.

Fearon is not a convert as far as I know, he is more doing it to get close to Small and Williams.

Which gym was it that almost banned him? I did't know he trained anyway regularly than Cityboxer which isn't open to youngsters vunerable or otherwise. Also he has never bashed any of the guys he's sparred with. That would never be allowed. Two of the best boxers in the gym did try to turn the heat up on him in sparring and he wobbled them with single shots and didn't follow up. That's the closest i can think to what you're referring to.

Anyway about the ringwalk music. Since when does it have to have something to do with boxing? Was the boxing connection with Pryce's music? If this is the case Hatton is totally confused.

Just been involved in a heated debate about this music stuff, a person said to me "A boxer has a right what music he comes the ring to", after having a quick think my reply was "What Small came to the ring to was some form of either political or reglious statement, what does that have to do with boxing?, If Small wanted to make a statement concerning how proud he is concerning his religion or whatever then fair enough, say it in the after fight interview".

The person came back to me "A fighter has just as much choice as you or me to what he wants to play", it was at this point I could see my beliefs seem to be somewhere in the dark ages as I really cannot understand what Small did had anything to do with boxing and it is my opinion there are too many influences on his career which will be to his detriment. Regardless of what people say Anthony Small is a talented boxer unfortunately, other influences will get in the way.
