khan got exposed last night and he has been touted as 'britian's best prospect'. so who REALLY is the REAL DEAL for british boxing?.

Fewkes looks good too but he as only stopped 2 out of all his fights 13 ,but as had a few tests

haye and froch are still our best of the prospects.

but there both hardly young anymore and been pro's for a while now.

i think kevin mitchell is the best of the young guys around.

john murray's defence and power ain't good enuff.

amir khan had a life or deather with a guy probably not good enuff to win the british title at present.

jamie cox turned pro the other night and is one to keep an eye on.

beyond that i'm struggling.

I've a feeling David Haye is on the verge of the big time.

Kevin Anderson could become a top draw with his blood and guts style (he might not win them all but thats coz he fights them all and puts on a great show)

Thomas Costello is a name I've heard lots of and Im gonna certainly keep an eye out for him, but until he gets the experience and faces some better guys we cant tell for sure. (but its gonna be good finding out).

Some fighters have the ability to look great in the gym etc but never become that great in the ring. (In fact, Khan might be a good example of that, he looks slick,quick and powerful against the lowest tier opponents but his skills against real opponents might be shit)

Kevin Mitchell should be going for titles by now but he is moving along far too slow. It feels like he's been a prospect for years now (oh wait, he has been

Alex Arthur is another. The Gomez defeat slowed his career too much and I hope he gets his finger out soon too coz he's not getting any younger and if he wins the ttle on Saturday he should use it as a stepping stone towards Barrera and JMM etc.

Paul Appleby is looking shit hot, his style is so seasoned for a guy who has only had about 7 or 8 fights and I can see him going far in the sport. He also needs to be tested against better guys in the future but he's certainly on the correct path.

My favourite "one to watch" of the british bunch is Paul Appleby.

Best prospect worldwide is imo Andre Berto, Berto was an amatuer at the same olympics as Amir. He fights as a welterweight and lives in Florida and imo this guy has champion writted all over him. If Amir does move up in weight then Keep him away from this guy at all costs.......Khan woulf be seriously hurt.

Tom has looked shit-hot in the gym and hasn't disappointed in his two pro appearances. He is only 18 and was a cracking amateur – Jr ABA and Four Nations boss, as well as fighting at the World Cadet Championships.

He has time on his side and with Richie Woodhall in his corner all is looking rosy.

Richie said to me that he thinks Tommy will be a legitimate world champion. How many people does Richie say that about?

Sparring with the likes of D Mitchell, Jamie Cox and Ben Murphy can only bring on Costello further. He also sparred with Paulie Malignaggi over in New York in May and reportedly caused him more trouble than Lovemore N’Dou did.

Pele Reid and John Costello, his dad, both told me that. Malignaggi said he thought Costello would be a world champion too.

A super light-welterweight talent.
