Well i watched it again yesterday and counted from when Khan hit the canvas, and 1 made it between 8/9 seconds. But this wasn't by stopwatch.
One thing i did notice was the when Khan stood then went back down onto his knee the count was at about 6, the ref then waved for Khan to get back up. Surely this isn't allowed.
I think the Ref thought Khan had mistook the count and wasn't going to rise in time so he waved him back up.

I was shouting about this at the time as the ref just seemed to abondon the count and waved him up. I wasn't counting at the time but thought Khan went back down at about 6/7 and he wasn't up and ready to fight again by 10 I didn't think.
Shouldn't be surprised by the fact that ITV didn't mention this at all after the fight!
Would like to see it again though just to time it properly, not that thats gonna change anything.

Yes, I just tried to watch it and was told they had been withdrawn because of copyright claims from Sports Network.BARNEYKX wrote:sorry just checked youtube and the videos have been withdrawn due to copyright claims, the videos were on yesterday
Isn't this unusual for You Tube? I thought one of the major things about them was they didn't give a shit who came after them?

Even if you are right, I didnt record the fight, that was a count out for any other fighter except Khan - After nine comes out and usually very quickly after nine - He went down again and just wasnt up in time as far as I am concerned - He was given a chance because the ref knew the consequencies of a Khan loss - I still cant understand why Limond didnt finish him off, he was all over the place.REAL_DEAL wrote:Khan just and i meant just beat the count, he was up at 9 and 3/4 after he went back down on one knee for a second time. It was 10 seconds not 13 by my watch. I think there a bit of sour grapes.
I'm shocked, this doesn't sound like anything Frank what dopm wrote:I think Warren has withdrawn ALL SN material from YouTube due to copyright.
Not to fear though, I'm sure you can watch it at Warrens site for 99p a pop. Er, no thanks.
Amir "Do you know what i mean" Khan surprised me when he went back down on one knee, i thought Limond had done it. I'm not sure about a long count though.
Limond is a sore loser.....He did knock-down Kahn and he did have him in round 6....
BUT Khan came back and give Limond a beating in round 7....
Even in round 8. Kahn had Limond's number...
If anything, Limond should be angry at himself for not finishing an unsteady Kahn in round 6....
AND NO, Kahn wasn't KO'd he on his fight for the count of 6! + was standing waiting for the ref to finish the 8 count......

Khan was up in time IMO, having watched it again a couple of times.
But the Ref did assist Khan in waving him to his feet after Khan took a knee again. I'm not sure he would have risen otherwise.

This is my point when is it a refs job to tell a fighter to get back upOld bones Ian wrote:Well i watched it again yesterday and counted from when Khan hit the canvas, and 1 made it between 8/9 seconds. But this wasn't by stopwatch.

Wev all seen fighters get up feel dizzy and drop to a knee to either get their bearings or take the count iv never seen a ref wave someone to their feet before?
Surely a refs job is to keep counting until he gets to his feet himself.
Khan walked a fine line by going down again. I remember ages ago on ESPN watching Larry Marks go back down against Togunbo Olajide (excuse spelling) and the ref called it off citing an indication he didn't want to continue. I think he was justified as Marks slumped on the ropes and it was at the end of the count (Marks vehemently protested) but Khan was living dangerously "trying to show experience" by taking the count on his knee but he was badly hurt.
Limond i think didn't finish him because he punched himself out and i suspect he thought he had weakened Khan sufficiently to take over the fight from that point. I must confess i thought next round Limond would finish the job.

I can state 100% that Nobby was not at ringside.Terry D wrote:Thought this may pop-up. Khan looked for advice, not sure what he was told, and then took a knee thinking he was doing the right thing. Perhaps he was told his shoelaces had come undone. Was Nobby Nobbs ringside?
I didn't tape the fight, how much trouble was Khan in?, I've heard differing stories!

He was in trouble, exascerbated by his youth and paradoxically his desire to seem more together than he was.
Khan doesn't move his head, attacks in straight lines and has some amatuerish habits beyond that too.
After two years you'd think he'd be more fluid and better balanced with his chin tucked.
He'd be better waiting for opponents to come to him too.

I didn't even think about this when watching it live. All I can remember is that Khan complaining it was a slip. He seemed to be listening to the ref's count and thats all he can do. It certainly didn't feel long, and at the time I thought Khan was in his senses and not even badly hurt.... only when Limond nailed him straight after did I think he "was gone".
I doubt there will be a rematch, but I bet Limond is kicking himself now... He was there to be taken out.

i think khan would have beaten the count it was his novice action that
confused things he should have been counted out by the letter of the law as he whent down on one knee at the count of seven and as said in a prevouis post the ref also made a mistake because he was still down at eight and he stop counting but if it was alesser boxer the ref would say nine and and ten out if they reach nine it usaully it gets stopped

I agree, Limond could have capitalised more with over a minute to go before the end of the round. Limond would have had the 10-15 second breather after knocking Khan down, he should really have taken that time to compose himself for the second wind.Ian 'Mr' McNeilly wrote:He was in deep bother.
Limond should have gone all out to stop him but, unlike others, I thought he didn't give it enough after the knockdown.

I think Khan landed a good right hand about 20 seconds before the bell in the 6th round, and this shook Limmond slightly , so he didn't come flying out at the bell for the 7th, as he thought Khan had recovered a bit.stujones wrote:Yeah, I agree.... Yeah I thought he'd messed up badly when he dropped down to take the 8 count again, and the ref might have counted him out.
I'd guess that someone in his corner panicked a bit, and was a bit late waving him to stay down and take the full 8 count. Or Amir was a bit late registering it.
Same thing happened to ex lightweight champ Rafael Ruelas: corner mistimed the count in an early contest, and he was counted out even though he was ok to continue.
In fact, he's a good example of a supposedly fragile fighter who went all the way. And current s.bantam champ Rafael Marquez: ko'd three times early in his career. Now on the P4P list.
