This is shaping up to be a really good card by the looks of it.

Bernard Dunne Vs Kiko Martinez
Brian Magee Vs Tony Oakey
Plus Andy Lee making his Irish return

More could yet be added to it. Could be the best card yet of the Irish revival. Any chance of McCullough reviving the comeback?

Just read that Setanta is getting this one as a one off, so those of you who got the special offer on the Hatton fight will probably be able to watch this with the superior Setanta coverage.

Has anyone here ever seen Kiko Martinez? Spanish fighters are usually babied forever, but this guys seems to have been given a few tough fights and is being moved quickly at a very young age - which makes me think he might be a real danger-man. Is Dunne at risk here?

Hopefully so! As always a continental Europe based fighter carries an air of suspicion. Martinez seems to be a verified puncher and even though he has been in a few possible soft touches, you still need to knock them out.

I didn't realise the Magee-Oakey British title fight had been shifted to Dublin? How does it work having a British title fight outside of Britain?

Cannibal do RTE have it aswell ? , I presume Setanta have it due to Dennis Hobson's part of the promotion .

Yeah it says in that piece that rte have it as well. Shaping up to be a good card alright. Interested to find out just how good Dunne is.

Oh this guy is definitely a danger. As well as his pro record, he is unbeaten in 40 amateur fights and after 56 fights as pro and amateur he has stopped 51 of his opponents... Don't forget that Dunne has been rocked by both Voronin and Walstad late on in fights. Should be a cracker.

EDIT: Also, looking through his record, he had a 12-1 EBU title challenger as only his 4th professional fight and dispatched him in 3 when it took Esham Pickering 8.

The venue in which Dunne fights in closes the day after for refurbishment. which means Dunne will be wanting a new home to box in. Maybe Northern Ireland or the UK.

Would think it would be more than likely belfast, maybe teh kings hall or the odyessy as dunne trains up there as it is.

The RDS in Dublin. The WWE crowd have run events there in the past.

I was also surprised to see a British title fight taking part outside the UK.

Who knows when the last British title fight took place outside of Britain ???

Both sound good to me! However Imagine going to a big fight on a Saturday night at the Odyssey, having to fight past all the boozed up teenies running around giving security hell waiting to get into the Beach club.

Yeah the buckfast brigade would be a drawback but at least there might be some talent to look at.

I almost went to go see Wayne McCullough make his comeback, but when I heard he was taken off the card cus they couldn't find a suitable opponent for him, I nixed the whole thing. I'd pay for the round trip tickets to see Dunne go up against McCullough, who the "Pocket Rocket" wants to fight someday down the road.

Macklin is likely to fight Darrren Rhodes over eight rounds, so both Brian Peters and Matt told me.

i was on holiday in benidorm last year and went along to see martinez in a euro title fight.

He seemed a good fighter and dominated the 12 rounds against Bikai whos been in with some of the best in europe although hasnt won many.

i have to say i never expected him to be takin on someone like dunne so soon

Just saw that Duddy is fighting on the same date but up in the Kings Hall, anyone know if RTE plan to cover that one as well? Would make it an even more cracking bill if they did.

Yes according to the North Belfast News (hotbed of Boxing information that it is) Duddy's cut against Furlan nixes the King's Hall show at least for now.
