Rankings

Post by prc85040 »

I like the way boxrec list the top 25 fighters in each weight class, but is it possible to put what title a fighter holds next to his name?

For example: Heavywieghts

Wlad Klitschko (IBF}

Ruslan Changeav (WBA)

Oleg Maskeav (WBC)

and so on with other divisions......

Although the organizations may all be jokes, they are still what boxng goes by in naming the world champs.

I think this would be useful for a quick reference, instead of clicking each name on a list attempting to find what bauble they hold.

Thank You!

I think it seems like a good idea, but the likely problem would be - how do you decide which organizations get listed. Not putting them all creates a sense of favoritism. Also, how do you manage it when the WBA had four Cruiserweight titleists?

I do find myself checking the Fightnews rankings page frequently to see what match-ups might be likely to be made, but ultimately it is just free advertising for the ABCs.

If it were implemented, I think an ABC ranking page separate from the BoxRec rankings (but still linked to records) would be best. But then someone would have to be tasked to update it all the time.

Thanks for the quick response,

I don't think it would be free advertising, because when you click on the fighters name now, you get what championship the fighter for.

And besides you already have a page that gives you every, WBA, WBC, IBF, and so on champ......

I am just thinking in a manner of convenience.

Like it or not the WBA, WBC, IBF, and now the WBO is the standard of a world champion, and I think those acronyms should sit next to the ttle holders name in small parenthesis.

As for the silliness that is the Cruserweigts, it would go like this:

Jean Marc Mormeck (WBA S)

Virgil Hill (WBA R)

Firat Arslan (WBA I)

I don't think it is that big of an effort, and it would make boxrec even a stronger boxing website then it already is.

Thank you!
