I was at the Albert Hall for Benn/Logan, there was a TV blackout due to a dispute. The place was in an up roar - no one could believe what they had just seen. And yes, Logan was a serious puncher - he took on Carlton Warren in his next fight, who was on a bit of a roll, and Logan flattened him in two rounds.
Oh Harold, I'm not a nutterharrygreb wrote:i have just looked at who brought up benns chin and logan...ben it was you! thats not a weak chin you nutter, that was cut from chuvalo's beard!
Vincenzo Nardiello, Danny Perez, Mauro Glavano, Gerald McClellan (but hey, that's understandable, I concede!!!), Anthony Logan, Michael Watson. Chris Eubank
The following floored Nigel: Michael Watson, Anthony Logan, Sugar Boy Malinga, Doug De Witt. And Eubank legitimately stopped him, Steve Collins merely wore down an old Benn in their rematch.
Benn was a brilliant fighter, I repeat, one of the best Brits ever, but his chin was more than penetrable. Now stop being so bloody stubborn
Yeah, Craig is a good fight - even if Khan looked like a million dollars at the weekend. I think if Craig is the same fighter that lost to Arthur and Sinistin... then he is a step up from Limond. A small step, but I think he is slightly better in every department.steve689 wrote:Craig Docherty is a good shout Cannibal, he would certainly work Khan's body. As for Nigel Benn, i remember his knockdown to Anthony Logan, the two were just swinging wild hooks at each other like a bar room brawl! Then Benn got collared. The shot he KO'd Logan with was a monster if i recall.
I was especially impressed with the recovery against Mitchell. First, it was against a legitimate challenger, and not just a WBO mandatory brought in to fill a date.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Calzaghe has amazing powers of recovery. Against both Mitchell and Salem, he eat absolute monster shots absolutely flush, and never saw them coming either! He seemed to get up completely recovered in both cases, which is pretty incredible given how resounding those shots were. He was up virtually at the count of one against Mitchell.Kilburn wrote:Benn had great recovery powers. He could be badly hurt, only to come back firing venomous, accurate punches seconds later. There is a difference between this and someone who heriocally tries to find a miracle equaliser while on jelly legs.
Holyfield could do it time and time again. Calzaghe did it against Mitchell.
But more than that, it was the punch itself which was a perfectly thrown hook that can't have travelled more than nine inches. When it landed, flush on the chin, it detonated with enough force to spin the Welshman about 285 degrees. It was a beaut, and Calzaghe looked woosy for a second before getting up and resuming his bombardment. Impressive. Calzaghe's chin is very underrated.
Calzaghe has a chin of absolute granite no-doubt. Not a fan of Reid, but the amount of huge right hands he shipped that night showed he had a chin of rock.... Comparable with Eubank and Collins no doubt.
Having said that, I do believe that had Mitchell been a little less careless he could have stopped Joe. He was woozy and was hurt badly again in the attack the followed the KD. By the time Mitchell got up from the KD - Joe had completely recovered... which shows his chin and recoveries powers are up there with anybody.
I don't think he was badly hurt at all vs Salem.

I liked how Joe reacted in a crisis with Mitchell. That was the hardest shot he ever took and he got up and dropped the guy almost immediately. We only see the best of Calzaghe in an intense situation, which makes it so puzzling why they bring in spoilers like Salem, Jiminez and Bika. Whoever the matchmaker is should be flayed, strung up by his ears & fed to the vultures.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Calzaghe has amazing powers of recovery. They have done an execrable job with the matchmaking at times. Joe seems to be a guy who gets complacent so thank fcuk for the Kessler fight.
How is Doherty shot? It seems like if you turn 27 you are shot goods.thepocketrocket wrote:Shot Property Docherty would be of no real value to Khan other than a name to pad the record...
The guy has had one or two hard fights, but plenty of gaps in his career. I cannot see why he is shot. He has simply lost to guys that are better than him... and guys who would beat Limond also.

Very true, however - whilst I don't know the ins and out of either... I would imagine the Doherty would have have been struggling more to make Super Feather than Willie. He certainly appears to be bigger.Twinkle Toes wrote:I think Docherty would be a good fight for Khan - Although fighting another super featherweight would be asking for more critiscm.
I think he's a small step up from Limond, or at the very least on par with Willie.

I haven't overlooked them, I've just given my views which differ from yours though Terry I'd agree with your "Not Hagler but by no means Hide" summing up.
