Real edge of the seats boxing-at-its-best action when Khan was desperately hanging on, Limmond trying to finish him, Khan swinging back and catching Limmond and taking big shots himself.
That was the kind of action that will attract the general public back to boxing and start building some momentum towards big terrestrial TV extravaganzas again.
People who sat at home and watched that fight will want to see Khans next one no doubt. It's on this basis Fwankie will get away with feeding Amir a few 'gimmies' again - but that's for another thread.
That vulnerability that fighters like Bruno & Benn had made them all the more exciting to watch.
It's a shame that after the excitement this must have generated that Calzaghe-Kessler is going to be tucked away on Setanta.

Yes I was watching it in an Irish bar in west london, and for the first few rounds it was just me and a mate watching, then when Khan hit trouble the whole pub stopped and started watching the TV, with the bar staff yelling C'MON AMIR!
Good job it was an Irish pub, as they switched over for the Duddy fight and we thankfully missed the Skelton non event.

Gutted about Calzaghe - Kessler being on Setanta rather than ITV, i even read on another web-site, might have been Seconds Out that its not even gunna be PPV, its only going to be for Setanta subscribers. Still think with a few more fights like Saturdays - which as Mighty Warrior said got a whole bar rocking and I doubt that was an isolated case - we could get something on the level of the Benn days.
Anyway not going to happen now, too fragmented by the different tv channels....

you're mistaken here... as far as the uk is concerned Amir Khan is already a household name..with a few more meaningful edge of the seat fights he will surpass Ricky hatton and calzaghe put together...the appeal for the general public is ready and waiting

My mate was in our local, the Good Intent (I was here doing the RBR lol), he said that the landlord was unsure about sticking the fight on for him, but apparently there were about 30 people ended up watching it after Cook-Leuvano....

Any new fans from the Khan fight would have been instantly turned off by the subsequent maul-fest! You can get setanta for £9.99 a month.. and there is no contract.
