Setanta - whats happening?

Post by chinny »

Will they have the ITV team per the Hatton fight? They seem to have a close relationship – I’m guessing part of the deal for allowing their team to work for Setanta was that they’d be able to show the Hatton fight during the Kahn broadcast.

If ITV just have Kahn – who does Frank put on the undercards? Because after the last scare (and the step down in opposition we’re anticipating) they’ll need decent undercards.

I guess perhaps ITV show the Kahn fight and Setanta show the rest on the night – ie pretty much what ITV4 show now – could that work logistically?

It all sounds pretty vague. They start with Warren in Sept for a charity match, they pick up in Nov for the big one - Calzaghe-Kessler.

Also, they are apparently showing Ben Dunne v Kiko Martinez next month, which is apt as they are an Irish channel.

So things are happening but I want a bit more for my money.

It looks like Setanta's deal was with Hobson, which is a bit naff if Hatton finds a different promoter. If they expect ppl to shell out to see Hatton, be fecking up front about things I say (that applies to all parties).

I want confirmation of a bit more US stuff.

I believe you can now sign up on a month by month basis - with no 12 month contract - so it could almost be like a PPV if you just want the boxing. So you can pick and chose what fights you want to see.

not quite that simple. on my package when you start you pay a month & another month in advance. so startup is 30 bastard quid (£15 on the Virgin package a month).
