Your upperbody workout

Post by texas tyrant »

Just wondering what you guys do. I find it hard to be consistent with anything because there are so many different opinions on workouts for boxers hat I change my mind weekly almost  Anyway, I am trying to get to 165lbs and be ripped I currently weigh 181lbs and am a little fat. My current routine is designed to build mass so I can have some muscle, I was always taught to bulk up then cut weight so you will be stronger, any suggestions? Also, anywhere here use kettlebells? How are they?

I would do a lot of calisthenics including push ups and sit ups. You could do some pull-ups, dips and plyometrics. Some weight lifting w/ lifts that use a lot of muscles like squats, military presses, deadlifts, incline bench presses. Don't to too heavy of weights though - I would recommend 10-12 reps per set and 2-3 sets.

I would also recommend lots of boxing specific exercises such as heavybag drills, speedbag, double end bag, hand pads, and sparring. Don't forget lots of cardio work - running, biking, swimming, etc. Do all of this and eat healthy and you should get ripped.

I fought at 155lb my last 2 years in high school, and I was very lean. I quit boxing when I was 19 I am 23 now and have been training and boxing for about a year now.

When I started I weighed 196 and now I weight 190, but it isn't a soft 190 by any means. Anyway I did a lot of ross emanits, i think that is how you spell his name, ideas. A lot of sandbag work and polymetrics. I never really was concerned about what weight class I was in so I never really resticted myself with calorie intake, so that has a lot to do with not having a big weight loss.

The thing that I liked a lot is that his programs really helped me with my speed and being explosive.

Yeah im goin with Dennis, I myself am i pretty stacked 152. I went from boxer to wrestled to boxer, i used to be like 5,4 and 180 now im about 5,10 and walk around at like 160. I did alot of cardio, running, swimming, jumprope, ect. And hardcore dieting, when i finaly got down to 140ish, i was so flabby cause alot of the weight i lost was muscle. Lifting, heavy endurance, a great diet and the right creatine/protein mix got me to a hard 155.
