Predictions for tonight (6 out of 6)?

Post by glahn »

Following on from last week's thread...

Souleymane M'baye vs. Gavin Rees -- M'Baye, pts
Enzo Maccarinelli vs. Wayne Braithwaite -- Maccarinelli, KO
Alex Arthur vs. Koba Gogoladze -- Arthur, late TKO/pts
Oscar Larios vs. Jorge Linares -- Larios, SD
Michael Katsidis vs. Czar Amonsot -- Katsidis, KO
Bernard Hopkins vs. Ronald Wright -- Draw

I changed my mind on the Maccarinelli result two or three times! That one really could go either way.

The Enzo fight is obviously a toss up, but it's the Hopkins/Wright fight that I'm really torn on. On one hand I think to myself that Hopkins punch output these days is just not gonna be enough to deal with Winky's consistent jab, but then I think to myself Hopkins is a sneaky f**ker who always finds ways to nullify his opponents weapons. I can't pick a winner in that fight at all.

Mbaye TKO
Enzo Mac KO
Larios points
Katistis KO
Hopkins PTS (Split).

Half way through the Arthur fight when I joined.

At this stage: I'll go for Arthur on points.

My winners:

M'baye - TKO
Maccarinelli - KO
Arthur - PTS
Larios - TKO
Katsidis - KO
Hopkins - PTS

I'm leaning towards Enzo and Bernard for reasons of physical strength. I feel Macca can recover from heavy shots a little better than Braithwaite, but we'll see; looking forward to it.

I'd expect Winky to be busier and quicker behind the jab, but think Hopkins has the size to wear his man down.

I think that goes to show what an unexpected performance that really was.

No one gave Gavin a real chance (at least I didnt!)

M'Baye just never got out of first gear and couldnt get to grips with Rees. All credit to the Welshman for fighting his fight and he was a well deserved winner.

Now Enzo Calzaghe has 3 world title belt holders in his gym. That takes some doing.. :TU:

5 out of 6 in terms of winner. But, as to how the fights were decided, I was wrong on every one!

I got 3. Credit to anyone who picked Linaers. I was basing my prediction on his record as I'd never seen him before. Turns out he's an excellent fighter.

The only real shocker was of course Rees, which no one foresaw...
